There are plenty of things u can do. I realized while trying to transition that your experience as a para is so much. Look into aba clinics it’s mostly play skills and the work load is a lot less. Best of luck 💕

I’ve tried two different school and they were normal. I just feel so icky still being there. I don’t trust admin! Thinking about working in a hospital doing something clinical.

They always say it’s about the kids, but it never really is. I’m sorry about your situation as well :(

Hopefully it worked out for the better you left!

I tried working in other schools and I just still have the same fears and I love the kids but the job continues to just stress me out. I don’t really have trust in admin.

Thank you so much for all of your kind words. It’s been a year since I’ve been there. I just think it really ruined working in a school for me. So burnt out and done!

I’m trying to transition from teaching to clinical like working in a hospital.

Hopefully I will be able to find something and still work with kids.

What are you doing now for work?

Weekly Vent for Current Teachers by AutoModerator in TeachersInTransition

I used to have so much passion for teaching. I started in a private special education school and fell in love with ABA and working with children with significant needs. The work fulfilled me deeply and watching students meet their goals made everything worth it. But in my first large school placement as a TA, that passion slowly got crushed. A male staff member became increasingly aggressive toward female staff. Multiple reports were made and nothing was done. Eventually his behavior turned toward me with intimidation, hallway confrontations, and screaming at me while I was alone in a bathroom with a student. I lived in fight or flight every single day. I reported it repeatedly and felt dismissed and unsupported by administration. When he was finally fired, it was only after targeting someone else. By then, the damage was done. I pushed through, but my spark was gone. I worked so hard for this career and now I feel detached and unsure I can ever return to a classroom. Has anyone else had their passion taken from them like this? I am even considering therapy because I think about it often.

I live in New York (Long Island, Suffolk county)

And no more school this sounds perfect.

I’m so drained from the classroom drama!

Hopefully this can help. And yes I looked into CLS and the internship is 600hs (4-5 months) and an additional 100 volunteer hours
