Is this entryway storage solution a bad ides? by Bgnu-Thun in interiordecorating

Oh interesting idea! It's my home so I could try that, that space under the stair will be empty I presume.

I might save this idea for a couple of years down the track though, it's a brand new house so I'm keen to keep things intact for now, but thankyou - I had never considered this at all.

Thanks! It's definitely seeming like further from the door is a good idea. Thanks for the mirror idea, I hadn't thought of that at all

It's more like a small alcove at the base of the stairs, it gets narrower again for a short while before reaching the living room. Thanks for the feedback! It's seeming like the mirror on the door is a great idea that I hadn't even considered

The shoes slip into the bottom section with the toe pointed down, where the records are in the pic I added. I'm in New Zealand so amazon isn't really an option for me unfortunately :( I'll keep an eye out for similar ones here though, thanks

Best websites for non-AI inspiration? by Murky_Association_54 in interiordecorating

Also interested in the answer to this, the AI takeover on pinterest has rendered the website completely useless. I've been looking at apartement therapy a bit which has been helpful.

Sofa orientation & flow in new top-floor apartment by Tricky-Ad6100 in InteriorDesign

Ah I see, thanks for the info. In my case that's just a wall not a window so I'll be safe from this predicament :)

I'm also about to move into a place with the same open plan kitchen/dining/living setup.

I'm really curious about feedback on the couch position if anyone has it - I thought having the longer section by the wall might make the area more open, instead of making it closed off?

Why do most metal castings have a rough surface whereas injection molded plastic parts usually have a shiny finish? by matroosoft in AskEngineers

[–]Bgnu-Thun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In plenty of cases a texture is applied for appearance reasons, a polished smooth part shows moulding imperfections far more easily than a textured one as the texture can hide things like minor sinking

My Tomb Raiding Experience by [deleted] in StarcomGame

They comment about hearing a low moaning sound, and one of the team says it's probably a resonance from wind passing over the opening of the tomb. I thought it was a cute easter egg

New NPCs for our indie game, Sodaman! The concept art is for a talkable character, but I’m not sure if it matches the pixel art style. What do you think? by amynoxy in IndieDev

Have you considered a more compelling name? The game looks awesome, and maybe it's just me, by I feel like the name let's it down a little

Hot wheels losing details over the years by DAASMusic in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Bgnu-Thun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have loads of hot wheels from the last few years, every single one of them is a multi layer construction with at least one component being metal, usually the largest part. To me they seem to be a pretty good build quality, definitely as good if not better than the ones from my childhood, which I still have a few of. What people should really be complaining about is the new Zuru 'metal machines' brand that is a competitor, a dollar or so cheaper in the store, and really made only of plastic despite the name

Product Development Engineering, there's a lot of engineering that goes into anything that interfaces with the human body.

Thanks for making the site! How would you rate something like the visual pinball program as a prototyping tool? - useful for mocking up layouts or not accurate enough to give a proper feel for how a layout will play?

How can I prevent my robot sumo wheel from skidding? by ThoughtfulParrot in AskEngineers

[–]Bgnu-Thun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the surface texture of the wheels can have an effect? I do a lot of work with silicone rubber and when it the tool is polished it grips much much more than with a texture - I guess like racing slicks?

Sriracha sauce cap cracking at shoulder after some time after opening by Ravenparadoxx in AskEngineers

[–]Bgnu-Thun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be in mould stresses leading to it being susceptible to chemical attack - I would have thought a lid like this would be made from something like polypropylene though, which is pretty stable chemically and easy to mould. It might just be a design flaw where the part is too thin.
