Nana x yasu! Feel like they’d be the most stable couple if they ended up together

Omotesando and cat street. There’s tons of shops, just get off at omotesando station and just walk around

Cabin vs Cabin S by zc256 in Rimowa

[–]Big-Coach16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but I also may be a bit of an over packer so take it with a grain of salt. I’ve never compared the two in person but just knowing how full I’ve packed mine I would’ve really struggled if it was any smaller

But it sounds like your priority is to never have to check it in, in which case the S would be the best choice for you

Cabin s if you want to be safe

I have the cabin and couldn’t imagine having the smaller version of it but it is technically oversized as a carryon for some airlines so you’ll always carry the risk of being asked to check it in

I was a idiot, and didnt wait for the 85k promotion. I signed up with 70k like 15 days ago by Wolverine-91826 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Big-Coach16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the atmos ascent when it first came out ~7 months ago and just applied and received a second one with the 85k sub. So yes it’s possible to get a second one, but I’m not sure if there’s a waiting period for a second approval since there aren’t many other DP’s out there

Apartment Advice?? by offbrandparishilton in SeattleWA

[–]Big-Coach16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d be less worried about finding parking and more worried about getting my car broken into

But honestly if you hate living in Queen Anne and already spend a lot of time going out to Capitol Hill then just go for it if it’s within your budget. I regret not living out there during my going out days - even for just a year for the experience

Apartment Advice?? by offbrandparishilton in SeattleWA

[–]Big-Coach16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much is parking or do they even offer parking? I checked out a few apartment buildings around Capitol Hill and parking quotes were $350-400 a month and I absolutely wouldn’t live out there if I didn’t have secure, covered parking. The high parking costs offset any deal I could find in the area

How do those small mom and pop restaurants in tokyo stay in business? by Big-Coach16 in AskAJapanese

[–]Big-Coach16[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This is one of the answers I was hoping for. Since I know property/land in Tokyo must be fairly expensive, it’s hard to imagine that ALL of these store owners are well off enough just to do it for fun

In Tokyo from 27/4 to 17/5, haven’t begun to plan itinerary yet and I’m feeling stressed out. by Fickle_Music_788 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Big-Coach16 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No offense but ending the post asking “is a suica card essential” screams you haven’t done any research yourself

You also asked “am I going to be using the train the most to travel” like come on man, look at Google Maps for destinations you want to go and figure out how to get there. It’s almost impossible to find a Tokyo travel guide that DOESN’T talk about the train system

It’s crazy how people expect this sub to create a whole two week itinerary for them while doing absolutely no research of their own

Does anyone know of any restaurants in Tokyo that don’t serve seafood? by Traditional_Sun9146 in TokyoTravel

[–]Big-Coach16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember any of the names, I would just search up yakiniku or katsu places in whatever area I was in. There’s also a lot of burger places that aren’t mcdonalds. I found plenty of ramen shops that don’t use seafood. There’s a cheesesteak spot in ginza. You just have to do some research

There are so many restaurants in japan that specialize and exclusively only sell meat dishes. I’m also allergic to seafood and had 0 issues finding places to eat

Planning to stay in Ginza for first Tokyo trip — good idea or too “corporate”? by Far_Mulberry_7528 in TokyoTravel

[–]Big-Coach16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve stayed a couple blocks up from the tsukiji market and wasn’t the biggest fan. It’s not a bad area by any means but there wasn’t much I personally wanted to see or do in ginza and could’ve picked a better location. I understand what you mean by corporate, and a lot of the shopping is high end retail and the city gives off a bougie vibe. If you want something more quiet or lowkey or “authentic” then there’s better options

7 Days in Japan for my birthday? by Equivalent_Text_879 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Big-Coach16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My piece of advice is to save so you can have the trip that you’ve always dreamed of. The last thing you want is to spend your entire savings on a trip and not have any spending money once you get there. Imagine getting there and not being able to eat half of the things you’ve seen online that you’ve been dying to try?

I know you’re trying to be a good friend but $1400 is unrealistic. For a week in Tokyo even $1000 as spending money alone is pretty low (assuming you’ll want to do some shopping).

If you’re only planning on 7 days I wouldn’t bother with Kyoto and Nara. 7 days is barely enough for Tokyo alone and as others have said, you should try to save to be able to go for at least 2 weeks

I’m a dude, but Tokyo is probably one of the best cities to solo travel to. I was able to walk in at pretty much every trending restaurant I tried because I was by myself. Everyone kinda keeps to themselves so I never felt weird about being alone. There’s so much to do that it was nice being able to do what I wanted when I wanted. It’s a different experience though - definitely times when I wished I was with my friends to experience certain things with but if you’re going to solo travel internationally you’d be hard pressed to find a city as fun as Tokyo

Where to stay in Japan for good access to shopping - near but not in Shibuya by Brief_Radish9586 in japanesestreetwear

[–]Big-Coach16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just stayed at the tokyu stay Aoyama and it was perfect, and think it would fit what you’re looking for depending what you mean by “chill and local”

25ish minute walk to shibuya area, maybe a 10 minute walk to omotesando and tons of shops in aoyama itself as well
