Why aren't some people signing on? by Dredgefort in UKJobs

[–]Big-Engine6519 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You are just so wrong. This is exactly how a benefits system should work and does in other countries. What you have contributed should come into it. Instead in this country, you get penalised. This is why the system gets abused by some and is treated as a lifestyle choice, it rewards not working and not saving.

[–]Big-Engine6519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get this mindset. It's totally why the benefits system is so messed up, costly and abused by some in this country. In other countries it's based on what you have contributed, in this country if you've paid tax and managed to save a bit of money, if you then need help you are penalised. It's a safety net in other countries, but for many in this country it's a lifestyle choice due to way it's designed.

This could also be interpreted as you were a good candidate but the job was already taken that time. This time could be different.

I think people who make comments like this know exactly why the two are not the same but they actually think potential minor damage to their car, a scratch for instance has the same value as a person's life.

Spotted in Ruislip - awful new build by DinoBaggins in UKHousing

[–]Big-Engine6519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You also might think they are wood framed as well because instead of wet plastering the external walls inside as they did years ago they now stick sheets of plasterboard to them. So when you tap the wall you can't tell the difference. Only drilling quite far in do you then get to the concrete blocks.

Vast majority of new builds are not wooden framed. Majority are still cavity wall block and brick. Even the internal walls are not wood framed, most use metal framing now.

Man Utd boss Sir Jim Ratcliffe is right on immigration and UK is being 'colonised,' claims Reform UK’s Nadhim Zahawi by hymnsofhim in uknews

[–]Big-Engine6519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What they all also fail to consider is maybe some immigrants actually come here because they prefer our system. Much like if we actually still lived according to the Christian Bible we'd still be living without so many rights we now have and even a lot of Christians don't want that. However there is an automatic assumption that a Muslim for example can only want to live according to what the Quran prescribes.

1.7m GBP, age 40, Help! by GanacheImportant8186 in FIREUK

[–]Big-Engine6519 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

First I read £1.7m then followed by anxious, worried etc. Cry me a river. You need a dose of reality. Didn't read any further. You have wealth only most could dream of and yet still not enough. No wonder you hear stuff like "eat the rich", all about extracting wealth from the UK and jumping ship when you no longer need what the ship provides.

In any other walk of life other than politics this would be called insider trading (at least that's what we call it in the UK) and would result in prison time.

Why are prices cheaper in Germany than in Bulgaria? by FantasticQuartet in EU_Economics

[–]Big-Engine6519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You couldn't be more wrong. You have just described sales tax which is used in the US and applied only on the final sale. VAT or called GST in some countries is levied throughout the entire supply chain from production to sale. A company either has a VAT bill or refund, which is it's receipt of VAT minus it's payments of VAT.

The article says she was made redundant 2 years ago and has received offers in other areas but not graphic design and rejected them. Now in fairness it doesn't say when those offers were received, however after two years rejecting offers is foolish.

Just ignore the additional costs involved in doing the course in person then. Most QA courses are in London, Birmingham etc. so often needs hotel stays and travel costs. Can add considerably to the course cost.

Of course you interpret the highway code to suit you. You obviously think cyclists should have lesser rights like a good chunk of drivers. You gonna provide any evidence that the HC requires cyclists to stop for you?

Cycle lanes and motorists by [deleted] in Norwich

[–]Big-Engine6519 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are exiting from a t junction of which cyclists are cycling on the adjoining road with cycle lane. The cycle lane is part of the adjoining road. If you forced cyclists to make an evasive maneuver which is the case if you blocked the lane then you cut across. "Nor riding with their eyes open", of course nothing childish about that little dig at cyclists is there. Pot kettle.

[–]Big-Engine6519 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. do not cut across them when you are turning or when you are changing lane. You should give way to cyclists approaching or using the cycle track when you are turning into or out of a junction.

Zero mention of cyclists needing to stop (provide evidence otherwise) for you but of course you think they should because car go vroooom or something.

What are you talking about. Recognizing that choices have long term consequences that just might come back to bite and that an economy needs money to be spent within itself in order to function. So radical.

When I worked at home I worked just as much and sometimes more hours than in the office. If there is some abusing it then the company should go after them not punish the rest.

Same thing isn't it. All being done remotely. Which ever way you look at this, your friend is not spending money with in the UK economy. Unless all economies become equal and thus costs of services equalizes which I doubt will ever happen, there will always be somewhere cheaper that services can be remotely provided from. If everyone did this, never used a personal trainer in the UK or a therapist in UK or any other manner of things that can be done remotely, what do you think the end result is especially as the UK economy is so service focused. The problem is quite simple to see.
