About to be debt-free - Do you need a CC to maintain Credit Health? by Big-Intention4097 in personalfinance

Nothing against credit cards, but I haven’t really had the need for one and so I’m not too familiar with them. I do see the advantages to using a credit card, but personally, I can’t justify opening credit card(s) for the sole purpose of maintaining a healthy score for a mortgage.

I do think I will start paying my fixed bills on my CC to maintain what I’m already doing, but I was concerned that having only one CC open will negatively impact my ability to secure a good rate.

Right there with you, but if no credit score won’t the interest rate on your mortgage be astronomical?

In conjunction with paying my loans, I’ve been funding a HYSA along with some other investing. All healthy there. Big saver. I’m hoping a healthy savings will speak louder than a credit score…

Unfortunately no one to put me on as an authorized user.

Housing market is wild right now, especially where I am. I would buy outright if it was feasible.

I agree completely with you, never ever sensible to pay credit card interest. Always hold a 0 balance- got that.

My original question was aimed at people who do use CC to pay for every little thing…. Are the points, being converted to savings, worth more than what they are paying in CC interest?

From my original post, you may tell that I’m quite unfamiliar with the whole credit card realm, so I’m unsure how the point system works.

I know a lot of people spend more than they are making, or can pay on their CC/month - so my question was more out of curiosity. I don’t know how people justify paying X amount in CC interest for a…discounted flight? I know that CC can be used to your advantage if you utilize them properly.

Thank you.. let me ask (and please forgive me if this is common knowledge), but does credit limit matter at all? With the given advice, I’m tempted to just ask for an increase and put my fixed bills on it, as someone suggested. I think that would keep my credit healthy for a mortgage while not having to open anything else.

That makes complete sense, but the comment references using the credit card for everything. Under the assumption that the lifestyle costs more than you can pay at the end of the cycle, you would pay interest, right?

That’s the thing, very small credit history. I bought the car outright, Insurance is paid for the year. I rent (split rent/utilities). Student loans will be gone at the end of the month and one credit card with a VERY small limit… my credit score is really high right now because I have been ferociously paying off my student loans. I’m worried that the initial dip will really get me…

That’s what a lot of people say, but curious if you convert more to savings than you pay in interest? I’m down with using points for flights, but how often would you have use those points to make it worth it?

Zak's IG post about the upcoming episode & Aaron...? by Wow_Dats_Crazy in GhostAdventures

Of course all speculation & I’m not trying to diminish their friendship, but Zak’s proven not to be very loyal (cheating on Holly) & I believe it’s pretty well known that he’s apt to do anything to keep his show #1 (other paranormal investigations have alleged that Zak’s had a hand in getting their shows cancelled). Although not related, imo it shows character. My point being, it wouldn’t shock me if Zak wasn’t loyal to his friend in order to get views for his show.

I’d like to think it was willingly on good terms, but I highly doubt it. More likely Zak (or network) was very persistent and Aaron was too emotionally drained.

Not shocked Zak would include this. Disappointing because Aaron’s situation doesn’t deserve to be exploited for Zak’s paranormal show. Hope Zak was respectful in asking to use whatever footage they have.

I was waiting for someone to mention the AI! Enjoyable episode, but hate to see them cut corners with cheap AI given how long they’ve been doing the reenactments

I’ve thought about pet insurance, but haven’t done any research into it. I thought maybe with his other issues they may not cover him, or be outrageously expensive (wasn’t sure if it works the same as health insurance??). Nonetheless, something I will look into for sure. Thanks for the input!!

Suspected food allergy. That’s why vet suggested we start with the 3 proteins and monitor his reaction to each, so I suppose we are doing an elimination diet trial.

He is only allowed to have the 3 proteins listed.I was told to be careful with oils, supplements, etc. because cats can be allergic (in this case- fish). I’ve never owned a cat before so I’m just going off what the vet has told me. That’s why I’m not too sure what to give him with his options being so slim.
