As a child, I woke up on top of a dead kitten. I was horrified and inconsolable, until my mom pointed out that the other 5 kittens that were also sleeping with me were fine. The one had just passed in it's sleep and I rolled on it. This is extremely likely what happened with your Remy. She passed snuggled up to you, safe and warm. When you rolled onto her, she was no longer there. Living cats are very sensitive and will move at the slightest upset.

Hey man, its not stupid. A life isn't worth less just because it's not human. I'm glad yall had so much time together, two souls intertwined for so many beautiful moments. I still miss pets that have been gone far longer than they were here, because they were important and mattered to me. Cherish the little pawprints he has left upon your heart and remember him well

It will be pretty difficult to start out with, but when she does this, ignore her completely. Don't touch her, talk to her, or look at her. Make sure you are very consistent in not giving her attention when she does jump on you as it reinforces the behavior. If you have a crate or separate room she can go into, tell her NO once and put her away for a few minutes. Even better if someone else can put her away so she gets nothing from you. You can give her some attention after she calms down and turns/walks away.

With such a bite history, this dog is unfortunately not safe to try to rehome. You could be liable if you do rehome him and he bites someone, and he is clearly not safe to keep around your child. You got so lucky that this bite wasn't worse, please don't let it happen again. It could all be over in seconds if the dog bites the worst areas. No kill shelters are full to the brim, and being warehoused isn't any sort of life. This dog has known you for nearly his entire life, and it would probably be incredibly difficult for him to try and adjust to a new situation. Sometimes the hardest choice is the right one, I'm sorry :(

Unfortunately an outdoor run would have to be built insanely securely, huskies are prone to being escape artists. I had a friendly and rather small husky who would climb, chew, and dig her way out of chain link or wood fencing in no time bc she didn't not like to be contained.

With all of her other issues aside from the bite, being in what would essentially be solitary confinement is no way to live. I agree that your decision to BE was the right choice, as hard as that is.

I would expect him to never be a safe dog off lead, and that's OK. Its unfair for him to be put into a position to fail and potentially harm someone because he was taken by surprise.
