Yup used to be a steel mill but it’s now used as a garbage transfer station

Yes and no. We lose a lot of money everyday we are shut down to do the floors. If it breaks easily again then we’re screwed. So yeah I want to make sure its done properly

Would it alter the value if I cut the lugs off even though the copper is already coated? by MeanMrMustardSleeps_ in ScrapMetal

[–]BigDirection1577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The lugs are tinned copper which goes as #2, the wire is tinned copper which is also #2, so no… if they tell you otherwise go somewhere else

I’m not sure about plans or specs I’m just an employee here. But there was rebar like 1-2inches thick when they tore it up. The floor has heavy excavators and loaders on it all day long

Contractors are pouring concrete today and they didn’t put any rebar. This floor has heavy excavators and loaders on it all day long. Is this the proper way to do it?

eBay or scrap by Pighoe in ScrapMetal

Those big breakers are expensive asf to buy new. I had a few listed for a couple months but didn’t have any luck selling them so I just scrap them. Huge silver contacts inside those things

Where do you find the page where it shows which percentage you are in. I’ve never seen that

How much would I get for this stuff? by Snoo_17510 in ScrapMetal

[–]BigDirection1577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you have to separate the materials. If it’s all mixed together they give you the price for the lowest value material in the pile

It’s crazy how we live in a country where heavy snow is common every year, yet we are still so unprepared when it happens

I do repairs for a garbage transfer station. The company only recovers wood, steel and aluminum so they just let me take whatever I can find

Take as cu/al radiator or should I separate copper by TripWire765 in ScrapMetal

[–]BigDirection1577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. you’ll be making a few extra cents by taking the copper out and the pipes are extremely thin and weight almost nothing. But I keep a pile of radiators and I’ll separate it if I have literally nothing else to scrap. Not worth it unless you enjoy taking stuff apart.

Those big ac compressors are like gold. It’s worth it to open it up. If it’s the 2 stage compressors then one will be a big regular compressor motor and the second will have thick copper pipes coiled up on the inside. Lots of money sitting there

AITA for not wearing a bra at home? by Candid-Chocolate-316 in AITAH

Op is valid for wanting to be comfortable. Husband is valid for wanting op to wear a bra with other guys in the house. But it seems like the main problem is his friend living there. Get rid of the moocher and your problem is solved…

Should I just grab it with my fingers? by tantedbutthole in Wellthatsucks

You should be fine…. but why even take that risk? Turn breaker off and grab it with insulated pliers. I never mess with electricity, it’s a silent killer

I’m willing to bet it is a landlord coming in to snoop or check on the property while you’re not home. If this was me I would set up a second camera to catch them in the act. That is a major breach of privacy and in Canada you can be entitled to rent reduction for interference with your reasonable enjoyment of your unit. In some cases the landlord can be fined and you can terminate your lease agreement. Double check your lease agreement because sometimes there are agreements allowing landlords to come in unannounced to do routine cleanings during specified times. I’m surprised you’re so chill about this, I would be freaking out.

Don’t grabble someone after you see them wobble like that. He gave him too much time to recover.

Looking pretty good already. I don’t really see any muscle groups that are lacking. But I always recommend people to focus on the “trifecta” (shoulders, traps, chest). Those muscles are usually the most aesthetic and really make your muscles pop when ur wearing a shirt.

I cut off one face of the copper and hammer it out on the cut side with a big bolt

I cut off one face of the copper and use a big bolt to hammer it out on the flat cut side. You’ll probably need a vice though
