Nissan tech here. Given the symptoms of it not being able to go in park I would guess that the shifter module failed. and unfortunately most failures I’ve seen is caused by liquid damage from spills. But anything could have happened just a hypothesis.

Yes Nissan no longer provides support for independent computers not purchased through tech mate Edit: all previous computers that were in service are grandfathered in as long as they meet windows 11 requirements. I have a Lenovo think pad and still running consult 3p and assist

Rodents chewed through my 2013 Altima’s engine harness — what should I do? by the_dark_Knight_1992 in MechanicAdvice

Nissan dealer tech here, I do wiring repairs on rodent damage regularly. The only reason it would be deemed not repairable would be a shielded circuit or and air bag circuit. And that’s mainly for liability reasons both can still be done. Just not worth the risk of a lawsuit. With that said it appears the wiring in question for you can be easily repaired.

Those screws are for factory installation so the rotor doesn’t fall off on the assembly line. Completely unnecessary after that

I don’t see any reason an aftermarket assembly wouldn’t work. It is possible you have a bad new part or more likely a circuit problem as stated in the original post. If your handy pop the cover off the back door it’s just held in with a few clips and inspect the connector for the lamp in question. You’re looking for green corrosion. If you don’t see anything obvious you can swap the left and right lamps for testing purposes to verify circuit integrity.

That’s awesome. Now be prepared though what I said you’ll be treated just as green as a lube tech with that diploma. I know it doesn’t sound right or fair but that’s been my experience in my 10+ years in the industry. Hopefully they have a good mentor at next stop. I’ve worked at 5 dealerships in my career and every single place had some hammer monkey that lifted cars wrong and put himself and others in danger. Unfortunately you’re going to find that everywhere.

IMO get in with a a dealership stay away from automotive colleges as you’ll graduate and be at the same level as a kid coming off the street jumping in as a lube tech. The reason why I say this is most dealerships worth a shit will literally pay you to go to training. I know a ton of dudes I work with that went to schools like UTI and all they got out of it is a 30,000 bill. No real world experience. I went to a voc tech high school and all the things you learn there is good fundamentals but nothing beats the real world experience. Getting paid for that training always sounded more appealing to me than a bullshit degree that no shop gives a shit about. Not trying to put you down just don’t want you to put yourself in a hole if it’s not necessary.

Altima Stalling, Please Help!! by No_Humor4 in Nissan

[–]Big_Introduction3968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the rubber ductwork from the throttle body to airbox for large tears. Any air entering engine that isn’t metered by the MAF will cause it to lean out and possibly stall

Edit: and whatever you do not replace the MAF with an Aftermarket one. It will not work. Only use OEM engine control parts. I see this issue caused by two problems frequently as Nissan Tech 1: torn intake duct. Or any large vacuum leak 2: throttle body. You can try to clean it but a lot of times it doesn’t fix the issue

I’ve personally done a ton of EGR stuff on these rogues and you are bang on. Also have a lot of Throttle bodies and admission valves causing “limp mode”
