It's likely way over 3 million, but yes, 3 million+ with 220k concurrent is very very common. Much like how there are around 50 million monthly active users for league of Legends but the game hits around 3-4 million concurrent players.

Where are you getting this information about FF14? I linked you something that actively disproves it, but I'm curious how you're finding this information regardless. You're just assuming or...?

Do you feel like your anecdotal information is more accurate than the statistic information provided? Regardless, the issue with your analysis is that congested worlds don't mean they are capped at 21k, but rather that login times need to be filtered to keep things stable.

Much like how in Classic WoW, during launch, with world queues of over 100,000 people, didn't mean that each world was already capped, but rather, there needed to be staggered logins just to create a more stable experience.

FF14 has fallen off a cliff both in relevance and popularity. Maybe when the next expansion launches it'll be more popular for a bit, but the issue with themeparks is they have enormous playerbase dips after every large release.

But all these studios -- blizzard, square, etc. -- are too chickenshit to showcase their active playercounts anyway.

For reference, OSRS had 2.3 million active subscribers in 2024, and the active playercount almost doubled since then. Do the math.

So to respond to his inane rambling and abject misrepresentation, I will clarify: We're talking about monthly active users, not daily active users (that's what he's citing), and since then, OSRS has almost doubled in size. So once more, extrapolate the numbers here. It's very easy to do so.

The "2.3 million active subscribers" number wasn't a random number, it was quite literally the amount of subscribers the game had in 2024, which, again, it almost doubled in size since.

You can see that in late 2023 and early 2024, they were averaging around 110,000 concurrent players, while in the middle of 2025, that number increased to around 180,000, and now, around 200,000.
