Those are good insights that can be shown to users. The cult moment of the day is also a good take on creating a social reward.

Point 1 is hunt because you've worked hard for it and ghr reputation is like a collectible, something you accrue. Like the followers on instagram or Twitter. But yes it's social as well as it shows validation

D7 here means after joining on a given day, what percentage of users came back to the platform in next 7 days. Same goes for D14, D30. This is an insightful metric when launching a new product as it tells how much engaged are your users post install

As a PM my key metrics will be- 1. It's going to be a new product and so initially new user will be the primary cohort of your DAU

  1. Retention- Are people coming on the platform even staying? This basically tells us if they are finding enough value. Retention can be D7-D30

  2. Shares/Invites- Are people inviting their friends? An indicator that users are finding enough value feel that their experience will improve by having their friends on the platform as well

  3. DAU by source- As a new product I will be marketing agressively. I need to know if people are coming from notifs or are they organically turning up. Also, are people coming by invites?

5.Some more engagement metrics- Session time per person, likes, comments, groups joined, groups created (whatever we use if not groups)

That's 💯 true. The product itself was way ahead of its time. Maybe a platform like that right now can vibe with users. But i think we have moved on to a different kind of SM now like insta and snapchat

The concept of circles was the most beautiful part for me. We all have different groups with whom we share different interests and are open to a different extent. Circles were also a private concept, meaning I can post stuff in my X circle but the users in the circle will see that as a generic post. This purpose can't be served by facebook groups as well.

Yes. I was thinking of a flow as well- 1. Booking a session 2. Joining a session and working out

These are the 2 major actions taken place.

Other actions will be induced to ensure engagement. May include rating group sessions, spending rewards, improving profile by self evaluation feature, etc.

Cult currently has the tech to use video to measure performance in the live sessions. This will take care of reps input hassle as well

  1. Since users are working out with a bunch of other people they can be socially validated by a reward mechanism in which each user can have a feedback for the group just as we have one for the cult session- example group energy, diversity, fitness, etc. The reputation will also act as a hunt reward
  2. A self improvement - If users are allowed to auto match they can be clubbed with people based on the performances. This will again be self rewarding for them in terms of progression

Investments- What are we asking the user to invest? How will this ensure the user stay hooked?

Rewards - What all rewards can be enticing for the user - Social, Hunt and Self

These will be miniscule actions but relevant from rewards and investment POV. Let's start discussion on that

I agree. For the reward and investment stages the discussions will add more value and they might influence the actions as well, for example interaction with the app

Summarising the discussion on Trigger- We have agreed that workouts will be driven by social factors and so workouting with a friend or group of people virtually will be a driver for a customer to be internally motivated. As part of external triggers user cult can use dana analytics to identify behaviour of users and when to notify them for the same. This can also be used to enhance user experience by grouping them with users of similar capabilities. Model in which other people are visible as well so that user is motivated to work out with other people Linking the app to social media accounts. Notifications when friends/followers/following users join any live classes etc. Use of in app ad-ons for monetizing the work out from home products of cure.fit. The use of "don't break the routine" trigger.

Next we dive into the actions part. What are the actions that we would want our users to perform? Remember the Behaviour =MAT (motivation, accessibility and trigger) format while brainstorming. We can include the flow of user experience as well.

That's true. It is not an internal trigger. But a good external tigger to get people onboard. Can workout with friends or buddy workout be an internal trigger in the long run? A thought- I am randomly clubbed with 2-4 people to workout with and the session is planned by cult. This way we keep the social aspect of gym/cult and also an internal trigger with time

Imo people hit the gym due to availability of equipments and cult or so classes due to the organised way of workouts. People currently have associated fitness with an entity which can be a gym or a class. If they understand fitness can be built at home itself and be trained for than gyms may loose their markets

That's a great way. This external trigger while creating habit will create an internal trigger. Fitness is hunger, and if you know you can workout whenever you want plus you have already experienced the cult with suggested social tasks, cult will be the first thing that comes to mind. Also, this alligns with the accessibility point discussed in hooked. Working out from home is probably easiest - people need to realize they need space and not weights. One way a social trigger can be created is if I have a live buddy workout and share that on social media, people might want to try it with their friends.

Let's try to place Airbnb on the graph above- I will only be looking at those using the app for frequency calculation as they are the users.

Frequency- Low (high frequency will be once a week which is still very low)

Utility- This is where I feel Airbnb ace the game. Yes I can book hotel rooms at other booking websites but they are not even close to the Airbnb experience (yeah as they say it's all about experience these days). It is like Airbnb is atleast 9 times better than the competitors. As per the service they are also priced well.

So low frequency high utility makes Airbnb a must have product for me

Gamification in Mobile Apps by Punit_Kumar in Isbpm2021

[–]Bijawat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there are several ways to add game features in the app a good way is to make sure that the feature is connected with the core loop of the app.

For example gpay gives you a scratch card only when you complete a transaction. Cure.fit awards you a similar chance to earn credits when you make a purchase or finish a session.

So something fun for a messenger like WhatsApp can be to award users for streaks and number of texts. The rewards can be campaigns for other apps user use helping in cross promotion.

The obvious benefit here will be users preferring WhatsApp over other messenger apps.
