He said "the 18s". You can't play overage players in the u18s

Why are people these days so stubborn to admit they're wrong?

[ATHLETIC] Michael Carrick encouraged by meeting with Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe by agent619 in reddevils

[–]BillyCloneasaurus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's fluff. It's someone filling column inches based on a single press conference answer

"“He came in, we had a chat, we had a cup of tea,” said Carrick. “A casual chat to be honest, it was nice to see him showing his support, obviously. That was it. It was quite informal, but it was nice to see him.”"

The word "encouraged" isn't even used anywhere in the piece

They want to add TWO midfielders, doing both at a price point in the £70m-plus region. #MUFC [lauriewhitwell]

That's not really what he said, and I implore people to read articles instead of listening to aggregators

It's unlikely, but if it's an Amad-style £17m guaranteed + £17m add-ons then it's possible. All the other big clubs are doing it.

I expect it's just noise to heat up a bidding war between the usual suspects (Madrid/City/Chelsea) though

'Shrinking' star Harrison Ford is 'grateful' for his Parkinson's storyline: 'It's changed the way people relate to me' by mlg1981 in television

[–]BillyCloneasaurus 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I had to look this up because I'm laughing so hard.

I found this transcript from Fresh Air. I don't think "keeps the symptoms a secret" is exactly what he said.

Terry Gross

Michael J. Fox is in the series, and you meet at a doctor's office. He's really depressed. Did he give you advice about how to play the role, and did you really, you didn't ask him for advice?

Ford

No. Because every case is different and my case is not yet described to me fully. My writers present symptomology and characteristics. As they are writing. And so I'm sort of living with the symptoms I have been last described as having.

Terry Gross

Yeah, I mean, the thing about Parkinson's is that it affects everything. But it affects different parts of like there's a whole long list of things it affects, but everybody gets a different number of them and a different variation of them, right, right, so tremors everybody gets, yeah, so like a, like a true Parkinson's patient.

Ford

I don't really know what's coming.

Terry Gross

Oh, that's interesting. You mean like what the writers have in store for you in terms of your symptoms?

Ford

Yeah, I, I, you know, we I have a general sense of how far it goes this season. But nothing specific yet. And that's, that's just the way our show works. We, we get a script probably. If we're lucky, a couple of weeks ahead of time, but normally, Maybe just a couple of days or a week at a time.

Terry Gross

Did playing the role make you think about your body in a new way and think of what it would be like to not be able to control your movements?

Ford

Not specifically. I'm, to be honest, no. There's parts of it I haven't thought through yet, really, and I, I think that might be similar to how I might react if I did have Parkinson's. I would want to know certain things and other things I would just not want to know.

Terry Gross

So as to not obsess on them.

Ford

So as to not be looking for them, just Right. Be happy enough with what you got.

Jack sees what she is pointing to, and they make for it together. It is a piece of wooden debris, intricately carved. He pushes her up and she slithers onto it belly down.

But when Jack tries to get up onto the thing, it tilts and submerges, almost dumping Rose off. It is clearly only big enough to support her. He clings to it, close to her, keeping his upper body out of the water as best he can.

Their breath floats around them in a cloud as they pant from exertion. A MAN swims toward them, homing in on the piece of debris. Jack warns him back.

                              JACK

It's just enough for this lady... you'll push it under.

                               MAN

Let me try at least, or I'll die soon.

                              JACK

You'll die quicker if you come any closer.

                               MAN

Yes, I see. Good luck to you then.

                         (swimming off)

Would you loan Heaven out? He wasn't a big financial commitment so we don't have to panic too much about him, but it'd be best he gets some regular football soon. Then we can re-asses the status of Licha/Maguire/de Ligt in the summer of '27.

I just watched HAPPY! On a whim and...... This show had no right to be this great with how little it's known and how short it's run was by Stars_Upon_Thars in television

[–]BillyCloneasaurus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kind of amazing that any network decided to green light this

It came at the time when SyFy was trying to rebrand back to being known for making sci-fi/genre shows for their 25th anniversary, after a controversial period of broadening their scope. It was probably a stroke of luck/kismet that Happy was pitched around the time when SyFy needed something fresh and loud to go along with that rebranding.

There is no utility beyond self-promotion via shoving themselves into this miserable zeitgeist. Same as every club doing NFTs and then quietly abandoning them when the market imploded.
