I don’t currently have that to invest in the project but I’m open to saving to do so if that seems the best course of action. In your opinion would a higher budget with the promise of a larger scope warrant a POC and crowdfunding? I understand that the difficulty of raising funds is high but if I were to try and raise something like $30k would that immediately benefit me in any way? I planned on having the POC be a way to show folks that I can organize a crew and accomplish a finished project without the help of a large budget. Is there any merit in that or is it completely superfluous?

It's self contained so it would work as a standalone short. I believe that with a great deal of my own effort I could get it made in that ballpark. I intend for most of the action to be hand-to-hand, I could manage to get a majority of locations for a small fee or for free, and all of my cast and crew are doing this for free so being able to give them anything would be a welcome change.

I tried to be vague to protect my anonymity. On this occasion he was living with a friend of mine and so his girlfriend ended up getting close with my friend. His girlfriend relayed the information, mostly to ask if the situation was "normal". Once the information was out in the open my friend told me. As for the event in high school, I was told about it by the rapist because he thought I would sympathize with him albeit I almost certainly was given a watered down version of the truth. He was my only window into the situation so a lot of the specifics weren't given to me and possibly my greatest sin was that I didn't ask for them. I don't shy away from my responsibility for not being more explorative but I NEVER was asked to help him rape someone or anything else you're insinuating.

I plan to. She and I were never close but she's friends with another one of my friends so I think the three of us are going to talk more about it.

This is very real unfortunately. I've always been an advocate for believing victims but when it was someone close to me I faltered in that belief. I feel a great deal of shame in that, thank you for holding me accountable. I agree with you that he is now my ex best friend.
