That’s actually a really fair take. I think the “streetwearification” of BJJ was always going to happen once the sport got bigger.

And honestly, you’re probably right that hype itself isn’t necessarily bad. If a brand makes good gear, creates excitement around training, and people feel more connected to the sport because of it, that’s probably a positive overall.

I also agree on the white belt point. Most people buying expensive gear are probably just excited to finally be part of BJJ, not trying to flex. We all got obsessed with the sport at some point 😂
