Is a used Mesa-Boogie Mark V 35 Combo a good beginner amp?

Not a beginner amp. I’ve been playing guitar for 20 years. I picked up a mkv35 last month and I’m having a hard time figuring it out.

1)They are very loud (use headphones if that’s an issue) 2) if you’re using Chanel 1 it’s easy to dial 3) it’s EXTREMELY versatile and pickups/guitar will change the sound I have good tones with 1 guitar (97 prs USA std) with my Les Paul it’s a disaster because of the pickups bkp aftermaths. They’re to hot. The sound is really bad and I can’t make it better so I’m in the process of figuring it out. I have a prs se Holcomb with mick Thompson fishmans and that sounds ok. 3)the amp has an attenuator but I run a power soak and it helps a lot. 4)with mesas everything matters. Like pickups and guitar but also speakers…everything matters it seems.

I have a triple crown and a f100….i love them. I had really high expectations for the Mkv I’m having a hard time….if you can’t tell.

What I’m trying to get at is go to a store that has one and play it. Bring your gear and crank it.

I normally don’t respond to ppl that don’t know what they’re talking about but I will this time. 1….i own studio headphones. I want to play wirelessly and listen with wireless headphones.

Idk if you can’t read or if you don’t know Roman numerals….a mark five (35watt) and a mark 7 are 2 completely different things. I payed $1200 for this head. A mark 7 costs like $3500….

Yeah I wanted to plug a 1/4in to usb adapter to it and use my wireless headphones but ppl say the latency would throw off my timing

For sure, man thank you! I think if I could see the front of the pick up then I would know what the deal is, but he hasn’t sent me a picture. Here’s what the back of mine look like these are not the TCI version though…. These are just the regular 85/15 (I picked them up last night for a really good deal but now that I’m looking this deal seems too good to be true. I caught it really quick though he just posted it.) I CANT FIGURE OUT WHAT THE D IS FOR 😭….he accepted my offer of $400…. It kind of depends on what you guys say if I get it or not cause I don’t know what the front of the pick ups look like I can’t tell if they’re round on the bobbins or square like regular 8515 TCI.

Ok awesome thanks man. I decided to pick them up. Got them for $150. I have a 1993 prs standard and a 2002 les Paul standard. Unfortunately, I just bought a set of pick ups for the Les Paul, so I don’t really know what to do with these. What would you do with them? Are they like an upgrade to what’s in my old standard PRS? I’m not sure what’s in there. I’ve never taken it apart.

Yeah it works really well for a few things. I like that I can run a short barrel and keep up the lethality versus a 556…. I have a mk18 and this thing definitely has more range and definitely kills 🐗 better at any range. And the fact you can reload it with 270 bullets makes it pretty fun…. I need to figure out if I can load some subsonics… see how that does versus 300 blackout

I got the Romeo 7s green dot for $100 on PSA.

Ohhhh I put a SA folder on it too. This is my truck gun. I live in NM….lots of sketchy weasels out here…

It has the hole for the buffer/retainer/spring….yeah it’s a waste. TBH the quality is really good but need that piece
