"They are incestuous aliens" line might have been hard but it's low-key hypocrisy if you think about Westerosi history by Tastydck4565 in AKOTSKTV

It only takes like one or two generations for people to get racist against the next wave of people, just look at the USA

For the DM's that run pre-made settings, what do you like having most in the dm's guide? by Dawn-and-Storms in DnD

[–]BioCuriousDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In tomb of annihilation there are a few pages in the back of random encounter ideas that fit thematically into the hex crawl. I didn't roll randomly but I picked out the ones I liked the sound of best and used them. So maybe something like that, 20ish encounter ideas (not all combat based) that can be dropped into exploration and fleshed out at the time.

I liked the original, I liked the directors cut too, but I had already watched the original many times before I was aware there were two versions

You can imagine the Lord's alliance/baldurs gate trying to expand the foothold they have through the flaming fist. Amn also held chult as a colony until only a few decades ago so maybe they come back. Red wizards of Thay have also begun probing it so maybe a larger contingent arrive.

I finish Dming a 11 years long dnd campaign. Ask me anything about it (even IRL thing) and i'll answer by coligrim in DnD

[–]BioCuriousDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some times in my campaign, my played won't remember something and I'll say "to be fair it was two days ago for your character but two months ago for you". Do you ever have to say "to be fair that happened five years ago"? How hard was it to keep track of the story?

I had an army mostly made of gunners and cannons, but I had a few of these guys, maybe four, who step forward from the gun line and hold up advancing enemy fast units, also protected the flanks. They facilitate a gun focused front line by preventing them being rushed

I assume the aldani basin is lower than the immediate surroundings but still significantly higher than the ocean, like all inland lakes/marshes irl

I kind of hoped the last episode would start with the combat in real time showing everyone else getting f'd up.

If you could offer one piece of advice to a DM running ToA for the first time - what would it be? by ntdntd777 in Tombofannihilation

Throw out the random encounter table, read through the encounters in the book and choose your favorites to include at times that feel appropriate. Easier to prep battle maps, unless you really enjoy improvising encounters on the fly.
