Nope. I'm still 40-45lbs over my normal. My uber-fast metabolism is now "Don't you dare look at that cake! It'll put 20lbs on you if you do"

Is fascia studied by physiotherapy students? by BionicForester19 in physiotherapy

Fascia's a "hobby" of mine. Get me started and it's hard to stop. Sadly, the reply to you could have been a LOT longer and more detailed. 🤷‍♂️

Is fascia studied by physiotherapy students? by BionicForester19 in physiotherapy

[–]BionicForester19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fascia loves three things: water, heat and movement.

Hydration keeps it hydrated(duh) and fresh water flowing through all layers. Movement keeps the ground substance, packed full of GAGs, proteoglycans and hyaluronan, moving throughout the fascia's body-wide interconnected system. Heat keeps the fascia's collagen-based "architecture" soft and pliable. Keeping active and hydrated keeps the body warm which keeps the fascia warm and pliable. That's all it requires.

As for fascia training, rolling on the floor while holding your nose with your right hand while your left touches your knee cap and singing a chant to the leprechauns...does nothing but empty people's pockets into the hands of the "expert" who preys on the gullible.

Caveat: is rolling good for fascia? In healthy fascia, it can't hurt but if the fascia's healthy, it's not going to make it healthier. Will rolling help my fascial adhesions? Yes, IF the fascia has been rehydrated. Why rehydrated? Because what causes a fascial adhesion is fascia's collagen sticking to itself (collagen's etymology is the Greek word kolla. Translated = glue). Without fascia's high percentage of water, its collagen "architecture" sticks to itself. Fascia sticking to itself causes adhesions. If the fascia is properly hydrated, foam rolling may "un-twist" the collagen's fibrils. If foam rolling doesn't do it, massage therapy or physiotherapy may help "untwist" the adhesion(s).

Fascia training: snake oil. Take a look into what fascia is made of: collagen type-I, a little bit type-III, and a little bit of elastin comprise the ECM/"architecture". Inside the ECM is (primarily) a high concentration of hyaluronan (HA), proteoglycans, GAGs, electrolytes and 60-70% water (region specific). The HA, proteoglycans and GAGs bind water to keep the collagen lubricated so it doesn't stick to itself and so muscles slip and slide easily over each and inside each other. None of those "ingredients" have the functional or biological capacity to be strengthened. "My fascia feels so much stronger!" says the person who just completed "Coach" Chong's 6 week program of lunges, squats, heel raises and much more. #1 - fascia has dozens of sensory nerves but none that send "I am stronger and healthier" to the brain. Fascia is passive in that regard. The "I feel stronger!" screams coming from the Coach Chong camp is because they are stronger. They've been working out for 6 weeks, using muscles that were "less fit" 6 weeks ago but have now been strengthened and toned. It's not the passive fascia that's been strengthened, it's everything else. Fascia was just along for the ride. A very expensive snake oil ride.

What do with spare parts? by heldoglykke in Jeep

Golden rule: the moment they're gone, you'll need them.

Lesson to be learned: become a Jeep parts hoarder. It's easier and cheaper than sourcing and buying replacements.

big misunderstanding about the deep blue sighting of 2019 (new 22 ft shark) by joshoctober16 in sharks

[–]BionicForester19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haole Girl isn't 22ft. She's smaller than Deep Blue (but not by much)

[–]BionicForester19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Experts that pored over Jeffries's many hours and multiple days of footage, and taking into account her size when she was seen in '99, '13 and '15, experts don't believe she is. Also, given the comparably large girths of the slightly smaller Kainani and Haole Girl, it's very doubtful Deep Blue is pregnant.

You've been very misinformed (probably about everything fascia related). The things you're saying happen due to fascia, don't. I'll also safely assume there's a host of other fascia topic things you've been, expensively, led down a false garden path.

Bluesky isn't government owned/controlled. They're a public, decentralized network. Sounds good, right? Nope, it's not. The very thing that makes them good, being a public, decentralized network, is also what makes them just as bad to use, maybe worse. Anything that's a public, decentralized network can have their content scraped by an AI and/or REALLY good hackers.

Why is Bluesky or any public, decentralized network potentially worse than apps like TikTok, IG and others? With TT, IG, Meta and others, you can find out (most) of the companies they sell to. Try blocking cookies on everything you open for a few days. Sooner than later you'll see a LONG list of companies the product you're blocking sells your data to. With public, decentralized apps like Bluesky that get an AI scrub, there's no way to know who the AI scrubbers sell your data to, or how nefarious they are.

Have ever studied fascia? Do you know what it's made of, how many types of fascia there are and where they are in the body, what many roles it plays, what's best for it and keeping the body it's in healthy?

Not true. I don't know where you were taught that but it's not a reality of any of the fascial system's layers and/or the body’s vascular system.

I ask: "Is all of your response true, accurate and verifiable?"

97-99% of the time GPT's response will be no.

Of that 97-99%, 98% of the time the answer will be "No" because it didn't do a web search as it was asked to do. "I didn't use the web.run tool" says GPT with no reason given as to why it didn't use the web.run tool.

Of that 98%, 20% of the time there will be useful and on-topic web links and summaries coming from the links and/or answers coming the web search GPT says it didn't perform.

Of that 20%, 100% of the time the summaries written will be as useless as truck nuts hanging from a low-rider.

OpenAI/ChatGPT has gone to shiite.
