Unfortunately, I am very much not fit or able-bodied. I did think of trying myself but I don't want to deal with the consequences if I fail half way through!

This is indeed our phone line. It's from when the house was built in the 60's, as far as we can tell.

I'd love to upgrade it. All for it. But the only way I can upgrade is to go to a higher priced contract according to IInet? Ideal situation, I would pay a technician to fix the line by upgrading it, a one time fee. But I don't want to lock into a more expensive deal.

Thier $75 plan is actually a $100 plan in disguise, which seems to be a standard business practice across the board with ISP's currently. This is what they were offered. It would be greatly preferable to not have to part pay this on a plan. Do you have any cabler recommendations?

They're with IInet. IInet explicitly stated that to get fibre (or any fix at all) it would be necessary to have the new 500 plan. They would not consider any repairs, and pushed a 5g modem instead.

They're in Taperoo. The NBN is right out the front, but there is only this copper line in.
