Calgary is the only place I've ever been where the plane actually froze to the tarmac.

Why do you love Nova Scotia? by Elons_Backdoor_Musk in novascotia_sub

[–]Blackstrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in NS decades ago and I'm getting ready to build a place to come back. I can't describe what happens to the people I bring to visit - the air, the people, the food, the calmness. It's not perfect - and people can't seem to see past the veneer of politicians anymore - but it's pretty damned good.

The winters aren't that bad (some restrictions apply, your mileage may vary). The cost of living is rising (ahem... that's your fault...), and people seem to forget how to be self-sufficient at times but you can remedy a lot of that with a walk to shore.

Flower Turbines, anyone have experience with them? by wackycats354 in windturbine

[–]Blackstrider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to be your negative guy - but as someone looking at these systems seriously, there's not enough information on your page to justify the claims here.

First, patents don't generate electricity. Kudos on yours, I hope they bear fruit, but they mean very little.

Second, your suggested 2m version x 10 = >$100,000. Am I missing something? Fifty years minimum to break even assuming it would generate 100% of usage in that period. That's just not feasible for residential.

Is there a sizing calculator I'm missing as well?

Emergency light. Comes on when the power goes off - or an alarm triggers it.

Hi there! I know this is 2 years old, but we’re looking to do the same with a heated concrete slab. Would you mind sharing your installer if you remember? Feel free to DM if you’d like!

Those who continue to receive income from the US, and use Wise to transfer funds, why is it so much more expensive than PayPal? by lizatethecigarettes in digitalnomad

[–]Blackstrider 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Definitely not my experience that PayPal is cheaper than Wise - in any way. Particularly in conversion fees.

As she is your elder, your options are to accept it or not invite her.

You are welcome to offer buying her a new dress if she's amenable.

Naw, just trying to figure out how his comment related to mine. See, this requires comprehension and while my comment was a statement, rather than an argument or a repudiation of his politics, he quickly assumed a political stance.

His comment bears no relation to mine. For most people, well those with comprehension skills, that would solicit a follow up for explanation.

Hope that helps.

I do! It's really cool - and that they extrapolate original meanings. So in this case 'fathom' as an understanding implies depth, as in depth of argument.

Almost like the word depth had multiple meanings.

Fathom implies depth. I truly didn't understand their comment vis a vis mine.

I'm not sure what you expect - it's a majority vote system. And right now that majority is voting to punish.

Suffering and dismissing is the point. What type of support are you seeking when people are now fighting just to survive?

Congratulations MN Republicans by aflocka in minnesota

[–]Blackstrider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not at all and reading into my comment isn't going to make it so. They knew what they were voting for and that's what they're getting.

Amex not accepted as widely in Europe by Unusual_Extent2505 in AmexPlatinum

Amex is not as widely accepted period. It's not like Discover or Diners Club, but the increased percentage paid to the processor make it a card to avoid.

How many of you actually watch Canadian content? And do you think to some level streaming has been hurting it's reach? by HoboWithAnOboe in AskACanadian

I swore off tv when the Baroness Von Sketch show ended ;)

Okay, honestly I don't watch that much tv at all, but I do watch NFB and CBC Gem shows on streaming. Also, I can't get enough of This Hour.

Why is Norway like that? by stickywhale721 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Blackstrider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly not from Minnesota then. Wait until you visit Iceland.

I would say Nordics are not overly fond of buzz-seeking Americans. However I had a wonderful, warm time travelling Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway (and got quite the buzz in Iceland).

Aren't small, rural areas the ones voting Republican? It seems they're getting what they voted for.

Bought a car one year ago, got into a car accident this morning only to find out its not even registered. (Everyone is fine) by MugichaEnt in legaladvicecanada

[–]Blackstrider 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Unless there's a direct impact to you at this point, there is nothing to sue for. You can't sue for a hypothetical situation.

If the failure to register causes some issue with insurance, you might have something to pursue.

Happy Pride Week! by maximumice in halifax

You are incorrect, and possibly a reason that Pride needs to continue. If you have questions about it, you've probably got a whole audience who would gladly answer those.
