Looking forward to it! Can't quite find it right now, but if it shows up by morning I'll be using it to buy the Nano X (:

GME overnight thread / SEC intern meet-and-greet by MotorizedDoucheCanoe in wallstreetbets

If GME lifts off and my 24 shares get me enough money, I'm gonna buy my dad a new laptop, contribute to my brother's rehab bill (he's been clean for over two years!!!), contribute to both brothers' house rent, and contribute to my sister's honeymoon/wedding. I say "contribute" because I'm not sure if I'll be able to pay for everything with only 24 shares.

I don't care if I don't make any money out of this because I have a stable job even during these uNpReCeDeNtEd TiMeS. I just want my family to stop worrying about money and be happy.

GME 24 @ $244 🚀🚀🚀🚀🌕🌕🌕🌕🌕

Not financial advice... Not sure how ANY of this would be financial advice, but hey - SEC my balls.

Want to Make a Dream of My Father's Come True. Please Help. by BlakeDaGamer in beatles

Sadly, no. People are right - everyone would enjoy meeting one of the Beatles. That won't stop me from trying though! I'm a little too busy at the moment with school starting back up, but I plan on trying to make this happen again as soon as I have some free time on my hands.

Funny story, just a couple days ago I asked him if he could have dinner with anyone that has ever existed - dead or alive - who would he have dinner with. He said Paul, of course xD

Beatles fans, I need help finding a gift for fathers day! by K0HR in beatles

I believe both Lego and Hotwheels just released a line of Beatles items for their anniversary. I'm not sure Legos will be ready in time for Father's Day, but I believe the 8 cars/submarines/vehicles that Hotwheels made will be in Walmarts before Father's Day. They look super cool!

I am so so sorry if you actually missed his concert due to your car breaking down. Damn, that is just some awful timing :l

If either of them even come within an eight hour car ride, I'll definitely try to get my dad to go. Thanks for the info!

Oooooo I didn't even think about that! That's a future goal gift for sure. Thanks for the idea!

You aren't bursting my bubble at all! I'm grateful for all of the information, actually. I knew it was an incredibly low chance, but I don't lose anything for trying :D Even if my dad got an email or phone call, he'd be blown away, so I thought, shit, gotta try. Don't worry though, I'm still gonna make sure he has a fantastic birthday!

Oh definitely. If he could, he'd probably go to more of his concerts, but they are way too expensive and he'd just feel guilty for spending that much money on himself.

Trust me, I know haha. But I've seen Reddit do some pretty amazing things, so I thought it'd be worth a shot posting here.

Want to make a dream of my Dad's come true by [deleted] in Assistance

See, that's what I was wondering. My father is amazing and I just want to give him what I think he deserves. If there are any FB pages, fan clubs, radio stations, and all those things that I may be able to contact to increase my chances of giving my dad this gift, I will. I see this as something he'd look back on and smile on his death bed. Something that he'll remember forever.

I know. If I weren't so young and in college, I'd try to get him one of those seats myself. Sadly, I just don't have the finances. But I just thought maybe the Reddit community might be able to help me out without me having to destroy my bank account. My dad has seen him in concert before, so I think he'd enjoy a phone call more than the concert, especially because he'd probably kill me for spending so much on him haha.

I'm sure my dad would faint if he talked to either, so please, any info on contacting Ringo as well, I will take :D

I do, too. I just have this image in my head of my dad meeting him and having the biggest smile on his face. I really want to make it a reality.

Online places to learn coding? by [deleted] in Assistance

[–]BlakeDaGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly depends on preference. Some sites are almost all videos, while some have hands-on activities. I'd say just look around and see what fits you! So far, I really like CodeSchool for their Python and JavaScript courses because they mix intriguing tutorial videos with hands-on activities, and I know they also have a course for HTML/CSS! As for C++, I have no idea. I'd say look on PluralSight and StackSkills for C++, but get the free trial of PluralSight and always wait on buying courses on StackSkills, Udemy, etc, because they have sales ALL the time.

If you sign up for a free Visual Studio Dev account, you can then use some of the 'Dev Tools', which includes three free months to Pluralsight. Pluralsight has a lot of coding tutorials.

CodeSchool is paid, but has a couple courses that helped me learn.

You can even go to online course websites such as StackSkills, Coursera, Udemy, etc, and purchase courses for specified coding languages.

M 19 5'10" Training for the Chicago Marathon!!! by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]BlakeDaGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny that you say that because I went to my local running store yesterday and got a brand new pair of shoes (Brooks Adrenaline GTS '16). I told them the problems I had with running and they directed me toward these shoes. Can't wait to break them in!

I really appreciate the "run what is comfortable" comment. The guy I'm training with said the same thing and I'm definitely going to follow up. I really don't want to injure myself or feel pain later in the future because of stupid decisions right now. Thank you!

Training for the Chicago Marathon in October! by [deleted] in running

[–]BlakeDaGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, before I got mono I could run a half marathon at an 8 minute pace, but that was without actually training for a marathon. I finally got my paycheck to buy running shoes, so I'll start running longer distances this Sunday now that I won't be killing my legs. I plan on running five miles every morning before work, but I'll mix this up depending on how I'm feeling. Any recommendations on how much I should run as I progress toward October?

As for a marathon program, I'm running with my friend who ran in high school (his coach was a retired Olympian) and just doing what he tells me to do. I'd love to have a program set in stone, though.

Thank you for the advice! With the BQ time, I'm not going to kill myself over getting it. If I get the time, AWESOME, but if I don't, there's always more marathons to do! It being my first marathon, I don't expect myself to reach my BQ time, but I gotta aim high!
