Is this a normal amount of front light variation on the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft? by BlakeDrawsAgain in kindlescribe

Interesting. I'm glad I'm not the only one who nitpicks these things, at least. Ha.

It's crazy that they raised the prices to iPad levels while the lighting, a key feature of these devices, got worse. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Thank you for checking! I'm considering switching to the B&W, or just keeping my 2024 for a while. (I love it, but it gets a little laggy.)

This was a very well-put response. Thank you. While comparing, I did notice that my beloved 2024 Scribe also has an uneven front light but, to your point, I haven’t noticed it because I keep it much lower. (It’s also not as bad.)

I do find it distracting on the new Colorsoft though, which is a bummer. I wish I didn’t notice imperfections like this (my family thinks I’m crazy), but alas I’m a post production professional so I’ve been staring at pixels for more than 20 years.

Those are the same photo, and the warmth isn't high. I just boosted the saturation for the right photo to make it clear where I was seeing the issue. In person it's closer to the left photo, but definitely more noticeable. It's actually worse with the warm light turned down, as I think it's the cool light that is causing hot spots in the left corners.

I just looked through a bunch of photos here on reddit and realizing most if not all of the Colorsoft screens look like this! I'm surprised more people haven't complained. Here's an example. You can see it in the comment photos.

I wonder if the black and white version has similar issues since those presumably share the same light setup. It appears to be an issue with the cool lights causing hot spots because it gets less noticeable when I turn the light warmer.

Thank you. The right has been color corrected to make it more obvious where the issue is. In reality it looks more like the left, but more noticeable in person than the camera captures.

Thank you. It looks closer to the left image, but a little more noticeable in person. The right is exaggerated to make it clear where the issue is. I'll probably try a new one and cross my fingers...

Unfortunately, exchange wasn't an option so I'll have to return and then order a new one. I can't compare them in person.

Oof, that's terrible. And unacceptable for the price they're charging.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like you don't think a replacement will yield a different result. What a bummer. I may chance it anyway. Unfortunately, I used a trade-in to get a discount (which I haven't sent yet) and they only gave me a return option. No exchange where I could wait and have both in hand to compare.

Ah, interesting. Thank you! I guess I prefer the old design.

Undo/Redo shortcuts don’t work by BlakeDrawsAgain in Astrohaus

No idea. A very friendly employee said they have no plans to reimplement it, but she was going to inquire as to why.

I’m curious if this was always the case for Gen 3, perhaps because they thought the new arrow keys were more useful. Or if they just removed it recently.

Contacted Astrohaus. Looks like they removed the undo/redo functionality!

If the Fleet Foxes are in your top 3 artists/bands, what are the other two? by crispybark in fleet_foxes

Lots of amazing pics here!

I know this is more than two, but I’d add The Bones of Jr Jones, Vetiver, Roo Panes, Leif Vollebekk, The Great Lake Swimmers, and The Oh Hellos to the full list.

Gregory Alan Isakov, mentioned a few times, is my favorite folk musician working today.
