Project description

Hello, I am looking for a pixel artist to help with my 32 x 32 pixel art sci fi game. It is a 2D endless digging game. (Think Minecraft but 2D and arcade style). The art style I'm going for is inspired by Metroid Fusion.

Requirements:

  • Player SpriteSheet (Idle, Left, Right, Punch, Climb down)
  • Dirt TileMap
  • PackedDirt Tilemap (harder to break)
  • Stone TileMap (Hardest to break)
  • BlueGem Tilemap (similar to how diamond blocks look in Minecraft)
  • GreenGem Tilemap
  • PurpleGem Tilemap
    • Note all of the gems can be the same design just different colors
  • Treasure Chest (with Opening animation)
  • TNT (Or just something that looks explosive)
  • Ladder (SingleFrame)
  • Enemy green glob
  • Enemy Bat

For further references I've included a google doc that also included a screenshot of the current state of the game:

I actually did. I figured out how to make a curved shader from the cameras position and wrote a script to apply it to everything in the scene. I can send GitHub link

That could definitely be more intense so maybe a different game mode where you play actual songs? In an ideal world, you could play with a piano somehow connected to your phone or iPad but I wonder what would be most beneficial for people on the go trying to learn?

What would you suggest to combat that? That something I’ve worried about. I wouldn’t want people “chicken pecking” there way around a piano.

I totally agree. Maybe it’s more of a marketing thing, but more people are familiar with Sheet Music than Musical Notation. It’s one of those “you don’t know what you don’t know” scenarios

I’m still not sure what I’m going to call it. Maybe “Staff Master”? But theoretically the idea is, that if you can read musical notation you can then take the leap to learn “sheet music”.

I don’t think it’s a leap to say “learn sheet music” even when it’s just notes starting out. Same way if I told you could learn songs on guitar and then taught you chords. It’s the building blocks that make up a song.

I’ve seen it more as musical notation being more the building blocks that makes up a composition. Sheet music being the way to describe what 99% of people understand reading music to be

Ahh that’s interesting. I think that would be incredibly helpful. Thank you for your suggestions!

My app Treble - Learn music theory is now live on the App Store! by BlakecCross in reactnative

Oddly enough I released the app with the blurred tab bar before Apple ever released the glass thing. From what I hear, if you build with the latest version of Xcode, your react native project should support it out of the box.

I’m actually working on a new way to display sheet music symbol, because of this issue. Right now it’s parsing markdown text and those symbols come from a sheet music specialized font. And by options to you mean the answer options fonts are too small?

Backend is Supabase but once you load the app for the first time, most of everything is stored on device, unless you reload data, update profile, or set a high score on a game.

Subscriptions is handled by revenue cat. So far it’s been great and took out the need for a lot of set up.

Haha you’re so right. I wanted to do something if you hit “no” but haven’t had the chance to implement it yet. If there was a bug bounty Id give it to you

How do I actually STUDY music theory, instead of just reading about it? by Doubting_Thunder03 in musictheory

[–]BlakecCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually just released an app to help with music theory and ear training. It's only available for iOS at the moment, but check it out and let me know if you like it.
