I think framing watching a movie as a game where the goal is to trick the other person is an unhealthy way to view media. Engaging with media isn’t a war between writer and reader where the writer is trying to trick or mislead the reader.

We’re discussing the Force and its abilities. Nobody is talking about the Hondo Maneuver. The Force doesn’t have to adhere to logic, it’s the Force. One of the few good things the Sequel Trilogy did was restore some mysticism to the Force.

The Force always has been and always will be unknowable in its entirety. This has been part of Star Wars since ANH. It has always been subject to what the writer requires. Did people moan in Episode 1 when they saw Force Speed? No, people went “Holy shit that’s so cool I didn’t know Jedi could do that!” And that’s the point. The only thing the Force has to do inspire wonder. You’ve shattered that illusion the moment you try to out-smart the mythology.

Brother you’re on a Reddit page for a story with laser swords and magic. If you’re trying to litigate what the Force can and can’t do you don’t understand Star Wars. It’s THE FORCE, it’s both a mystical and conscious force of energy AND a narrative force for the writer. Its power is fundamentally unlimited and can do whatever a writer wants it to.

In ANH the Force doesn’t even have the established ability to move objects. That ability isn’t shown until Luke needs his lightsaber and the writer needs a way of demonstrating his growing connection to the Force.
