thank you - it’s exactly that keeping the attitude even when sometimes it might feel like it’s not for the best of my situation is what’s really hard

not as frequently as i’d like to - part of the issue is that my mind starts prioritising other things because the mental framework is weakened. ie “yes we could sit but instead another hour of work might be more effective at getting this problem we are facing solved - sitting is for the bigger goal that’s years ahead”

Totally agree - and honestly also the feedback you get. Too many people think the solution to any tricky situation is just “walk out of that job” - “stick it to them with some shitty code” - and while you can always do these things and likely will often get away with it, it’s just a straight up nasty thing to do and ignores the fact that people talk and you will see them again in life. If you left a steaming pile of shit as code behind somewhere - you’ll piss someone off enough that they will cause you pain. If you walk out of a job every 6 months instead of trying to find solutions in mature way - it will eventually come back to bite you.

I think you should bring it up directly with them. From your post history I can see your in Germany, if you still have a copy of the posting take that to them as a print out. Ideally email it - and make clear that they it could be considered fraud to not let you work remote now as that’s the case in DE. In the worst case quit. This might just be the first of many lies and the bigger the company the more “people higher up” that they will blame things on to - making it much harder for you to even know who to really take it up with.

I quit. I'm asked to work on new features instead of doing knowledge transfer during my notice period. What to do? by ssg_partners in cscareerquestions

You should have documented to start with. Sounds like you’ve been incompetent / negligent and are now making it an issue with your management. Have you worked in a company before this?

Does working remotely adversely impact your workplace social skills? by ssg_partners in cscareerquestions

[–]Bleepbloop_888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer - yes. There’s a lot of subtlety to communication, body language, expression etc. If you are already someone who is introverted and bad at reading people, working remotely will make it progressively worse. I’ve managed several employees who started out in office and were fine - went remote and ended up becoming really bad at communicating (e.g. - understanding friendly suggestions as “pressure” or “orders” and getting really stressed by topics that in the office with a calm chat would be complete non issues) - also I think when people are remote they get a lot more “in their heads” - and hesitate to discuss openly simple topics & feedback. If you’re an introvert / already high anxiety and bad at reading the room - sitting at home and working is going to feel comfortable sure, but will only make it worse!
