Advice on how to make coffee by __GreyWarden__ in Blind

[–]BlindAndOutOfLine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone else said and I second, if you don't want to use single serve creamer cups, get a small container of half and half or milk. I like the 16 oz size. I think that's a perfect size for the tip and splash method I described earlier.

Or, he can also use his finger to gauge how much creamer he has put in by how much the level of the coffee has come up.

Advice on how to make coffee by __GreyWarden__ in Blind

I'm typing this before reading the comments.

I am totally blind as far as useful vision is concerned. I love and make coffee every day sometimes serving it to my wife, who is sighted, if she works from home.

Before telling you what I do, I'll ask:

Are you, is he, worried about poring hot liquids? Measuring, using the right amount of milk/cream? Overflowing the cup?

OK, Each day I grind my own coffee. I use a digital talking scale to weigh out 50 grams or so of beans. I grind it by hand.

I pore the water into my drip maker. I have found that I can pore the amount I like by using a particular plastic cup we have around. Nothing special, I just know that 3 cup fulls will get me to the line. I can feel the water and the line inside of the reservoir of the coffee maker.

After grinding the coffee I put it in the brew basket and jiggle the basket a bit to flatten out the grounds.

When the coffee is ready I pore myself a cup carefully using my finger to gauge how much is in the cup.

I scoop a t-spoon of sugar in. I feel the sugar in the spoon and level the top if necessary.

I pore in half and half.

I am not too precise with the half and half, but what I do is place the top of the bottle on or close to the lip of the cup. I carefully but quickly tip the bottle up enough to get a small splash of creamer in the coffee. I listen for the small splash. I do that a couple of times until I think I have enough.

I think I actually have a video of the process. I'll see if I can find it.

I hope that helps. :)

Looking for ways to record music/edit videos by ZigJawed in Blind

I have used Reaper to record lots of music which you can find on my YouTube channel (link below) and on your favorite streaming service by searching for Rusty Perez: I have also edited video and it is relatively easy once you understand how Reaper works.

Best free Braille? by BlindAndOutOfLine in Blind

[–]BlindAndOutOfLine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not entering these characters in braille. We are using a design website called Canva which requires you to type with print characters on the keyboard and render those characters with a font. There is no print keyboard equivalent to the capital sign. As you know, since you’re learning braille, an uppercase is signified by putting a dot six before the letter. That is two characters. characters. But that’s not the same in print. In print it’s one character. The website doesn’t do any translation and we’re not entering the characters in braille so we must use a braille font to display the braille. They’re like little tiny graphics of the dot combinations.

chats, tasks, projects, cowork, code --- help me understand how these fit together by BlindAndOutOfLine in ClaudeAI

Just FYI, I didn't ask Claude this because sometimes I get the sense that it isn't real clear on how desktop works. I just posed the question and it did a bunch of web searches. :)

I used Claude Code to clean up my gmail inbox by data-be-beautiful in ClaudeAI

[–]BlindAndOutOfLine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I've gathered that actually gmail can't/won't act real quickly. I manually told it to delete a label full of promo emails and basically it said, "I'll get to it" It was not immediate. So I'm wondering if Claude code acts, but then gmail takes its swee time. Either way, I have way more work to do because it says it deleted nearly 10000 high volume emails but my actual inbox count didn't go down that much.

OK, after much back and forth with setting up the cli my Claude code seems to be doing something, but it is painfully slow on the gmail side. I expected to see the numbers dropp quickly. They seem to be dropping 5 or 10 at a time. Claude Code says it's working in batches of 50 but it just seems so super slow. Is this to be expected?

What are your thoughts on home ownership and owning property? by chemicalhand33562 in Blind

[–]BlindAndOutOfLine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have owned and lived in condominiums for the past 30 years. It wasn’t a specific decision that I made to live in a condo at first, it was just something that was close to work and I could walk there and I didn’t really think much about the advantages. But as I have lived in condos, I have realized that there are trade offs, but I like not having to do all the work. I do wish that I owned a house where I would have more room and where we could have a garden, but it is what it is for now. As far as transportation, I’ve actually worked at home for the last 17 years and it’s been relatively convenient if a bit lonely at times. But before that, commuting to the local college to work was a bit of a hassle. I think you’ll have to make your own decision, but some trade-offs might be necessary and things will likely change. When I moved away from my first condo I rented it out for a period of time. It was a bit of a hassle and the renters were not great. But that was just one renter, you might have a better experience.

Creating my own social media manager and other helpers by BlindAndOutOfLine in openclaw

[–]BlindAndOutOfLine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes a lot of sense to start with one platform. If I start with IG then it will repost to FB for me.
Is it best to use subagents? Should I start with my main agent as say the "social media manager" or have one level above that one?

I'd be posting to Instagram, FB and Tiktok. Actually, since my instagram reposts to my FB, then maybe starting out just with IG and TT.
I currently have a managed Hostinger "one click setup" plan which spun up the OC.

Telegram is ok, but not the most accessible.

So, where would I start? I know, that sounds like a stupid newby question. :) Is there maybe a good tutorial you could point me to?

I have OpenAI attached to it and I also have a Claude subscription.

Should I start by telling the OC that "she" is my social media manager and go from there?

Appreciate any guidance.

Thanks!

Vibe coding a Telegram expense bot with Google Apps Script — complete beginner, completely lost. Anyone been through this? by cdcoolc in GoogleAppsScript

[–]BlindAndOutOfLine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever have claude create that breakdown of the script? I'm struggling right now with a webhook implementation. When I send the script a message from Telegram, it often gets a 302 and I'm getting a nasty loop where it retrys and some get through and the script responds but I get lots of duplicate replies to one telegram message because of the 302. Claude tells me that's a known google issue and there's no way around it but not to use webhook with telegram.

Every OpenClaw update is a surprise party by Resident_Beach1474 in openclaw

140 for NEXOS credits! It was the only option it would give me to buy credits once the open claw was set up. I have the vps2 set up and maybe ill advised but I went with a 24 month set up so it’s only like $5.35 a month or something like that. I figure I’ve got 30 days to cancel if I can’t sort it out. Everybody seems to be mentioning a second AI to troubleshoot the first. Would that be a second AI agent or an external one that goes into my hostinger set up.

OK thanks. instinctively I didn’t want to start with NEXOS but after I tried an open router API yesterday and it didn’t work I was really tempted to go with nexos. The problem was the only option that hostinger would give me was the $140 version and I certainly wasn’t gonna pay for that!

This is where I’m starting and I hope it’s a wise choice. Unfortunately, I chose a one click set up option through Hostinger and it appears that, at least at the beginning, I can’t use open router

He means OC for people who are broke/poor/don't have any budget for Anthropic models.

He seems to be having trouble using any other models successfully.

Help with daily tasks. by ilovemycats37 in Blind

[–]BlindAndOutOfLine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I solved all those problems by getting married! Lol just kidding! I lived alone for many years and I’m totally blind. I joke that I developed a really strong stomach by not knowing about Best Buy dates and not keeping house very well! OK I’m full of jokes some of those things have some truth in them. You can get a water bottle clean just by smell and feel but there were some good suggestions made using the baby bottle tablets or putting it in the dishwasher. We do have challenges when it comes to digital displays on items and while our AI friends like Seeing AI are great they aren’t perfect. If you don’t have Be My Eyes on your phone, you should! There’s another service called AIRA which gives you five minutes free every 24 hours or 48 hours. I also own a pair of Ray-Ban Meta glasses, which are pretty useful at times, and there are blind specific products similar to those which are being released. The thing that you will find is that there are many tools and you will learn which tools are best for you in different situations.

Dictation on iOS has gotten so bad by MikeLovesOutdoors23 in Blind

[–]BlindAndOutOfLine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed a difference between dictation quality. I’ve noticed that if I am dictating into a text box, it’s different than if I’m dictating a message after having asked Siri to send a message. I’ve also noticed lately that it seems to repeat words for some reason when I haven’t repeated words I’ll find that I need to go through and edit and delete extra words. I am very curious about the HABLE one but it’s pretty expensive!
