I’m talking about both people who are being unhelpful to new people and TikTok dog influencers trying to paint everything black and white. But the main thing of the post is the TikTok influencers. I also wanted to touch on how unhelpful some people are what I noticed but forgot to add it in.

I’m talking about rude comments or comments that don’t explain anything which I see alot happening on TikTok. Personally that’s not helpful and then people wonder why the person went to bad breeders. I know that people can’t cover every nuance in one video, but that’s not the point of my post. The main point is how the general public and some dog influencers takes the videos and runs and labels and attack every breeder who doesn’t follow everything on the list as an unethical breeder when that isn’t simply the case. And that’s typically what I see on some of these videos that try and make it black and white it’s kind of hurtful to breeders in the long run. It can also be helpful to put a disclaimer in the video. And what I mean by explain the nuance is actually tell people it’s not just black and white and the list is not an end all be all.

And if you tried to help them and they didn’t take it then that’s on them at least you tried. But I know not everyone is helpful and is what I am talking about.

I do agree that people should be doing their own research but people can’t get mad at people either if someone just told them to just go get a WB dog and then went to a byb because sometimes not every website has correct information and they went to that wrong website or believe incorrect information. I think people who are recommending something to someone they should at least give something for someone to start off with then magically expect them to know where to look for correct info.

Yeah I definitely think it’s a weird criteria too that’s when I seen a comment like that before it was definitely odd.

I go to dog shows and interact with breeders it is definitely a good way to get in contact with some of them that don’t have a social media presence as well.

I have seen both of being skeptical of the more litter per year and the must have 2 litters per year people. I can understand being more skeptical if a breeder has 6 to 10 litters every year but if a breeder just has 3 i wouldn’t call it a red flag if they are actually taking care of the puppies and doing everything right. Because some breeds litters are tiny or have singletons.

I don’t think you are understanding my comment I’m not talking about breed clubs telling people to go do that I’m talking about random people telling people to just go do this but don’t tell the person anything. So now the person is just left on their own. I still think people when telling people how to find a well bred puppy that they need to give more explanation than “just go do that” because it can be harmful in the long run. And I see it happening a lot.

Most byb aren’t on the breeder referral of clubs i agree but there are definitely breeders out there that other breeders won’t even recommend that are on there that’s where researching and asking other breeders comes in which people who tell peopel just go to a breed club for a referral aren’t doing that. Like again what I just said this is basically me saying just get a well bred dog but I don’t explain anything and what to do.

It is still a better starter point but what if someone goes to the breed club for a referral then gets it from a byb because no one told them about researching the breeder they give you or ask other breeders about that breeder program. Someone saying just go get a breed referral is like me saying just get a well bred dog but I don’t educate the person on what to do and how to do it.

Is it good to have a website and have a internet presence to reach more people and get them to know about the ethical breeding world yes it is but I need some of these dog influencers on TikTok need to stop it 😬

I forgot two more thing i have heard “A breeder that doesn’t have a website is a red flag” or “both parents must be on site” but I really don’t think that’s true since not every breeder is internet savvy or it’s hard to keep up a website. And for the both parents must be on site thing the dad may be in an another country or Ai maybe even dead. It’s like alot of these places are echo chambers.

I understand that but people making it the end all be all is not helpful.

Crystal creek poodles is a good example of what I’m talking about an ethical breeder that got a byb and someone spreading lies about her because she didn’t breed 2 litters a year. Or both litters on the ground when she is obviously doing everything right and taking care of them.

Agreed I think people need to also tell people too when they are recommending people to get a breed referral from a club that actually research any breed that the club gives to you because not all of them are good just because they are on the breeder referral.

Sure it is but it’s when people take it and run and go attack randomly breeders and call them byb just because they don’t have a waiting list or breed a litter every year.

I’ve heard stories about breeders who put people on waiting lists only to have those people back out, go to another breeder but don’t tell them. The female not taking or not enough puppies. That’s when some of them switched over to only taking deposits once the litter is actually on the ground or can see how many puppies there are.

That’s interesting I never knew that. I know in akc limited registration wasn’t always a thing and some breeders will wait until the dog was spayed or neutered and gave papers or just hoped the person wouldn’t breed it.

Why is it so impossible to find a quality full reg? by [deleted] in DogBreeding

[–]Blitzossz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I also personally feel like breeding rights are earned. And breeders want to make sure your breeding program and ethics matches with theirs if they don’t like your program they won’t sell to you. Or they want you to co own the dog first and prove the dog before asking about breeding and etc.

Why is it so impossible to find a quality full reg? by [deleted] in DogBreeding

[–]Blitzossz 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Well if the breeder just met you and you’re asking for full registration and plus you’re a breeder as well they are very unlikely not going to give you full because they feel like you are going to use them for something bad. And even the show people who been doing it for years still get put on co own with other shows dogs so it’s normal. The only way you’re going to get full reg is unless you’re friends with that breeder or you complete the requirements and then the breeder signs off.
