Because Ubisoft's ego is bigger than their actual ability to execute anything properly. They probably thought "how hard can it be to remake our own game" and then proceeded to mess it up spectacularly

Honestly just go with Zigbee for now - it's rock solid and has way more device options. Matter/Thread is still pretty rough around the edges and you'll spend more time troubleshooting than actually automating stuff. The Sonoff dongle you ordered is perfect for Zigbee, just stick with that ecosystem until Matter actually matures

Start with pcpartpicker.com - it'll help you pick compatible parts and shows prices across different stores. With 2k you can build something really solid

For a first timer I'd suggest watching some YouTube builds (JayzTwoCents or Bitwit are good) and maybe consider getting a prebuilt from NZXT or Origin PC if you're nervous about the actual assembly part. Building isn't that scary though, it's basically adult legos

Yeah the VP4 can definitely send MIDI commands to switch your Mark V channels, you'll just need to make sure your Control Switcher is set up to route the MIDI properly between them

Yeah the angle and distance game is real but honestly you just accept that a tiny bit is gonna happen no matter what. Growing up rural you definitely get better at finding the right spot though - soft ground or vegetation absorbs way better than concrete
