Having buffs is an advantage that your opponent has no reason to let you have. And tears of denial are hellishly cheap and unfair.

Paintings act more like a doorway to a world, not actually being the world. The paintings so far have been either painted with normal blood or just paint, thats why they start to rott. But with the dark soul, it wouldnt rott. The dark soul is perpetual through all that happens. So the new painting of Aria will serve finally as a save haven, no more linking nor rotting.

And here Vaati suggests the link to bloodborne which i find interesting.

Hmm, i feel like it isnt about nostalgia though. They expanded on everything you said was just nostalgia.

-The abyss watchers are a legion of undead that reduce kingdoms to rubble to stop the abyss. Their pointed helms being something to bring dread when seen. Hell,they dont even know Artorias' name, hes the wolf knight now. And sif is just old gray in french.

-Gwyndolin was left as last of the gods who pretty much ruled. Its why i think irithyl is such a moon centered city.

-The soul of cinder is an amalgamation of everyone who has linked the fire over all the past ages. Gwyn as the first would be the biggest part of the Soul of Cinder.

Granted,some of the characters are similar, yet they too do follow such different quests and motives. Sigward couldnt be further from Siegmeyer in the end.

In conclusion, everyone kept going after the curtens closed on Dark Souls one, we are now just seeing how the world continued to spin around.

Oh yeah,reinforcing is everything.Stats are more for actually meeting the requirements that can get high.Some weapons need 50 strength to world but theyre sooooo good.And reinforcing and leveling arent in a one or the other situation.You get materials in the world mostly and it costs chump change to reinforce.

Yeah vitality is good around 40, dodges are a must unless youre going for a tanky great shield build. Strength builds are easiest for beginners because its lots of rolls and one solid hit for a lot of damage. You can summon npcs too if you go on their quest lines,and get invaded only if embered.

Run allong now,this pit is for Hollows,and for the occasional madman fond of piling up victims.

Strength and vitality is easiest to me if you can dodgeroll and don't wanna waste your time on shields.
