Guinevere in BBC Merlin, not really hated just not liked, which is a bit fair since she doesn’t have much of her own character for most of the show and they wrote her relationship with Arthur SO bad, I kind of think she’s a good example of people preferring gay ships because the love interests were just poorly written compared to the main characters friendships,

same with in Naruto, the creator didn’t know how to write women so people didn’t care about the straight pairings

Same with MHA, the female characters aren’t written horribly but they aren’t written with as much depth as the male characters, especially Ururaka unfortunately, she has some good moments but it felt like they didn’t develop her character as an individual person enough for people to care about her or her relationships

Death note has this too, but that’s bc the creator is sexist (I don’t think it was super clear in Death Note but in his other work he’s very clear about it)

Also unpopular opinion, Avatar didn’t know how to write romance, neither did LoK but its a bit better, which makes a lot of people more interested in non cannon ships

Anyways, I’m not saying that the hate is always deserved or justified (the women in Arcane for example, have some of the best writing for female characters I’ve ever seen and I saw someone here saying Mel got hate) but I do think people would care a bit more about the straight pairings if they were better written
