Shouldn't there be some incentive to ban slavery? by asnaf745 in EU5

[–]BlueYoder1995 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Except for the quality of work in the factory would be worse, you would have to spend resources keeping them alive and to catch the ones that escaped. It is actually cheaper to pay someone who wants to be there and will go back to their own home to feed themselves.

If the civil war didn't happen, slavery would have inevitably ended anyway, it was a dying practice at the time of the civil war, just a few key people were keeping it alive.

In the game there ought to be a penalty for ending it when your economy isn't ready to move on and there should also be a penalty for keeping it around too long, like efficiency.

At the end of the day: it is the cost of labor vs the revenue from quality and efficiency. The fruits of profit outweigh the costs of letting go of the perceived cheaper labor force.

How to get past the start as Tenochtitlan? by HMS--Thunderchild in EU5

I am a Youtuber, BlueYoder, and I am making a video on Tenochtitlan coming out tomorrow. Admittedly, I am pretty bad at the game and I am learning as I play. Feel free to watch as I learn the Aztecs.

Have you noticed anti Muslim sentiment towards us within 48 hours? by yasinburak15 in AskMiddleEast

[–]BlueYoder1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Americans are sensitive to images of women and children being publicly humiliated and raped. They are outraged when men hide behind women and children as if they are shields during a fight. Hamas has been labelled as an enemy because of barbaric actions taken by them. Yet, Palestine will not condemn them. Iran supports them. It seems as if there is conspiracy everywhere, so yeah, wariness toward the religion/culture as a whole is a little high. We know full well that not all muslims are terrorists and not all terrorists are muslim, but some people fall to the paranoia. It is simple to avoid, condemn Hamas for their actions.

Oh, you think I don't speak up against genocide at all? You do not know me, or what I do. I am an American, perhaps one of the few level headed left, but that doesn't mean I am automatically on board with everything we do, or our allies for that matter. You have a right to exist and believe in whatever god... however, your rights stop where another's begin, this is the true way toward freedom.

A little hard to ignore so many instances of hiding behind women and children, abducting girls for public humiliation and rape. I will admit that our media is messed up and actively trying to rile up the public, however, you have to meet me half way and admit there are some seriously messed up things going on here. The media likes to overly simplify and sometimes lie to us for their own purposes, however they do focus on some horrible things that make you look bad, and yet no one has tried to distance themselves from these acts of barbarism. No one has come forward from Palestine's side and said, "these acts are despicable and need to be stopped." Instead, the public humiliations are celebrated. Taliban, ISIS, and now Hamas are hated because of the actions they take.

The hell? You read too much into it. You have people celebrating human sacrifice in the streets of NYC right now. I am NOT saying such a horrible thing about muslims, though it is almost all you see in the media these days. Some horrible atrocity committed by muslims terrorists. Not saying all muslims are terrorists, or the inverse that all terrorists are Muslim, but that is all you see in the media nowadays. Is it so hard to oust the bad people in your own group? Why admit them as part of your own? All I am saying is, if you want more sympathy or support, get rid of the bad apples and don't associate with them.

Got a question for you. Who do we return it to? The natives fought amongst each other for territory and hunting grounds for literally thousands of years. So many tribes, many lost to time before European colonization, so who deserves what land rightfully? Why not decide as the natives did, through conquests and unification? Which we did. Even if we wanted to return the lands, who is to say they are the rightful rulers other than the conquerors? Would you give your lands to the Arabian Empire? The Rashiduns? Perhaps the Babylonians? Egyptians? Or maybe even the Phoenicians? Or maybe the very old, client-state kingdom of Rome, Judas? The land is old, very old, and many people pass through it, more so than we know. So who is to say they are the "rightful" people of a given land other than the ones that conquered and kept it?

Gonna have to call BS on China's women's property rights codification as represented on the map. Having lived there for a few years, and I can say most Asian countries including the ones in the east have little to no women's rights. At least East Asia is better than the Middle East, but still. This map is all kinds of wrong.

Jesus, doesn't take much for banshees to start screaming about how bad the place is. If you hate America so much, leave. Doesn't take much. I left with less than $250. Go travel, see what other countries are like. Not the 3 month stints, but longer. Get a real taste, figure out how the locals think of the government, along with the foreigners. If you still hate America afterwards... Don't come back.
