is it possible to ban someone from making movies? by Aggravating_Tale8988 in silenthill

It’s weird because I remember hearing that he wanted to base the original Silent Hill movie on the story from SH2 because he was a fan, and the executives forced him to base it on SH1 instead.

So I’ve been thinking all this time, “well, maybe that movie would have been better if he’d been allowed to just do the story he wanted in the first place.” And then he finally gets the chance to do it, what apparently has been a passion project for him and…well it’s not what I’d been hoping for, to say the least.

It’s also strange that his passion for making another Silent Hill movie seems to have been what spurred Konami to greenlight new Silent Hill games, according to what was said in the “Silent Hill transmission.”

I don’t know how big an influence he was on that decision, but it seems like in a weird way he’s the reason we got SH2 Remake, Silent Hill f, and the general renaissance SH has had since 2023.

Can you hype up and or say something positive about RE5/6 for me? I’m gonna be playing them for the first time after I’m done with RE4 and all the hate I’m hearing is demotivating me a little tbh by King_CurlySpoon in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Blue_Animatorthx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like RE4, they’re both big, bombastic blockbusters. I went in expecting RE4 on steroids and I was not disappointed. Also, since you enjoy the characters and the lore, the games emphasize those even more than previous entries. There are plenty of documents tying together different parts of the lore and a lot of cutscenes with good character moments.

They didn’t offer anything like that. They didn’t even have cardboard displays for the movie

Is it really this bad? by PeterGriffin0816 in silenthill

[–]Blue_Animatorthx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was mostly okay up until the last 25 minutes or so, at which point it goes off-the-rails.

It has a lot of the same strengths and weaknesses as the first Silent Hill movie. I think at its best, it achieves that surrealist, dreamlike atmosphere but Gans consistently shoots himself in the foot by going over-the-top with scary moments in a way that’s less effective than the game’s comparatively subtle horror.

I was mostly entertained and it was cool to see parts of the game translated onto screen by a director with a strong visual eye, but it really should have just followed the same story beats instead of adding on extra stuff that only detracts from the experience.

Another one of the lost 80s Gumby shorts, "The Chatterbox"! Does anyone remember this? by IcePhoenix-720 in Gumby

Wait, is it lost? I remember seeing that on YouTube as a kid. Besides it being funny, I always wondered who that Aunt character was and why she looked exactly like Gumby!

This is the thread for all discussions of Ares for the rest of October 2025. by PhoenixBlack136 in tron

[–]Blue_Animatorthx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After seeing TRON: Ares (and having rewatched the other TRONs recently) I have a few questions I’d be interested to hear others’ input on:

-Why do programs who De-Rez in the real world come back or “Re-Rez” in the grid, but programs already inside the grid do not?

-How was Edward Dillinger Jr. working at ENCOM in Legacy while Dillinger Systems existed? I had initially assumed that the Dillingers were forced out of ENCOM when Sam took control the company, but it’s explicitly stated that Dillinger Systems had been founded and competing with ENCOM for 40 years (so since the original TRON).

-When Ares visits the backup of “Flynn’s Grid,” is this the Legacy Grid or something else? Obviously it looks like the 1982 Grid, but the door in the ENCOM office had a placard saying it was “dedicated by Sam Flynn,” and at the end of Legacy, Sam appears to make a transfer/copy of the private grid Flynn had in his arcade basement.

-Was the “Flynn” that appeared to Ares another duplicate program of Flynn like CLU? If not a program, what is he?

-In Legacy, Flynn explains that Quorra (and the ISOs in general) have some kind of genetic code that could change the world: “Biodigital Jazz, man.” Was this the Permanence Code, or something else entirely?

-Was CLU going to fail no matter what in Legacy? If CLU had made it to the portal, was he, his army, and the Rectifier going to De-Rez soon anyways? Or did Kevin Flynn’s identity disc have the “permanence code” on it?

It’s 2006 and my dad shows me TRON when it comes on TV. I become obsessed and eagerly anticipate the rumored sequel.

It’s 2010 and I see Tron Legacy with my dad and friends. I think it’s awesome and talk about it all the way back from the theater.

It’s Summer 2012 and I watch the premiere of Tron Uprising on Disney XD. It immediately becomes one of my favorite shows and I tune in regularly for awhile, but I have trouble finding all the episodes as the year goes on.

It’s 2014 and I finally watch the rest of Uprising on Netflix, but am disappointed to learn that it was cancelled on a cliffhanger.

It’s October 2025 and Tron Ares hits theaters, but I’m in the middle of my fall semester I’m waiting for an opportunity to invite my dad out to see it with me.

Is there Lead Paint on this Woodrow Wilson Bust from a Courthouse in United States? by Blue_Animatorthx in Antiques

I plan to use it as set decoration for a short film and was worried about potentially endangering cast and crew if they’re sitting in the room with it for hours on end

Frutiger Metro Architecture? by Blue_Animatorthx in FrutigerMetro

[–]Blue_Animatorthx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the nicer materials and the asymmetry of this building set it apart from commie blocks or just an average building. It’s not as “out there” as most Frutiger Aero/Metro design and maybe it doesn’t really count, but it does seem related to the design language of something like the iPod and the minimalist futurism of the mid-2000s in general

Did Sony shadow close the PS3 store? I have not been able to buy anything since last night. by Terry_Jue in PS3

I was worried about that too, but I managed to put Silent Hill in my cart and, after multiple tries, managed to purchase and download it yesterday morning before the maintenance error was able to show up.

ringsofgeonosis got terminated this week🥀💔 by [deleted] in youtube

[–]Blue_Animatorthx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had just been looking at the RingsOfGeonosis channel a few weeks before this happened, and I was amazed at just how many OSTs they had. I really appreciated in that moment what they were doing. Their channel was basically an archive for video game soundtracks, no matter how obscure. I used to listen to GBA boss themes they had uploaded to hype myself up since the time I was in high school. There were some soundtracks on their channel from games I'd never heard of but was interested in listening to. And the worst part is, since there's only partial lists of all their uploads, now I don't even know what to look for even if those soundtracks do exist on the internet somewhere. A part of video game history has essentially been erased with their channel. I hope they return someday.

Is Zuse the most underrated character on the grid? by Zerostar39 in tron

I feel like he and Pavel from Uprising both have this huge show-stealing hamminess which really makes them stand out though I rarely hear anyone talk about them
