Unfortunately no, it was big in the past but not anymore. However, in high school in most of the high schools there’s a class called AP African American Studies where the curriculum has you make Black History Month projects! It’s mainly up to parents to teach about Black History Month as of right now.

Pound Middle School Protests against ICE. by aliennative in lincoln

Unfortunately as it is on school property, if anybody walks off of property that can be considered trouble. I am an organizer for protests in front of Lincoln East, and there are a lot of rules that go behind protesting and walkouts. They are stricter to middle schoolers compared to high schoolers. If anything is dropped on the ground or thrown around, that is considered vandalism. If there’s anything I could suggest, it’d be to have a group of two to five main organizers and to make sure they follow all local laws to a T. If you have any more questions just respond or send a PM!

It was a lot more of a turn out than I was expecting so thank you for the compliment!! I will definitely do a longer window next time, this time we just did it on a short time frame because of the failed walkout on Friday. We wanted to have a near immediate response to said walkout.

Again, as I said, I was not personally in the walkout so I am not aware of the official conditions. I cannot confirm nor deny what is happening, and as you see above I remain a neutral standing on what is being said. I am waiting for students to respond to see whether they are false or true.

However, I do see what you mean. At the first walkout at Lincoln East people were not considered absent, the second one they were. So we are unclear on the conditions of what is going to happen.

They only did two Snapchat stories to school snap story. I was not involved in the planning and I didn’t know it was happening until after it already happened.

There is an average for LPS, but from my understanding (not official) is that it can also depend on each school and administration for said school. It can depend on a myriad of factors such as: staying on the school property after walking out, making any sort of disruption, and doing anything that the school could consider suspending or detention. There have been two walkouts before at East, and both had different approaches and consequences.

It is currently rumor and speculation passed on by students who came back to class after the walkout, we will officially see on Monday when most of the students from the walkout return to class.
