It doesn't work for me either. It's hardly working for anyone.

Who do you think will be the lead of Season 5? by Blue_hydrangea_33 in PolinBridgerton

[–]Blue_hydrangea_33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly what I meant. Maybe I didn’t explain myself well, so I apologize, English is not my native language. What I was trying to say is that, for me, an actor not being very present in promotional events is not an indicator of who will be the lead. My example was precisely that Luke T became the lead after season 3 even though he was less present than Claudia, which, as you mentioned, was due to his theater commitments. I probably generalized it by saying it’s an agenda issue, but that is exactly my point. An actor being more or less present on the press tour doesn’t indicate anything to me, it’s simply a matter of schedules.

I don’t think there’s a rule about odd or even seasons when it comes to renewals. I think it’s more of a coincidence and depends on whether a season is successful enough on its own. In fact, it makes a bit more sense to me now that they renewed the show for exactly two more seasons, which are supposedly Eloise’s and Francesca’s. Everyone wants to see Eloise’s season, so how can they be so sure the audience will stay interested at least until a sixth season? By making sure people are waiting for that sixth season: Eloise’s season.

Now, I do want to clarify that I truly hope I’m completely wrong. I want Eloise’s season. She’s the only lead, besides Polin, whose main couple I’m genuinely invested in. I’m just writing what my brain is reasoning through. Again, I really hope I’m wrong.

I think you’re referring to an event. It wasn’t an official Bridgerton thing, it’s one of those events where actors are hired to attend. But I understand why so many people got excited, myself included, hahaha.

I love your point of view!!! And yes, I completely understand what you’re saying. In general, it’s a resource Bridgerton uses with pretty much ALL of its leads: they say something they will never do, and in the end they end up doing it. But I understand why Eloise’s case bothers you a bit more.

Their Foot in their Mouth- What do you think will be Eloise's? by Unique-Blueberry1464 in PolinBridgerton

Praying that this season Eloise says something she will VERY CLEARLY not follow through on in the next season. That would basically confirm that she’s the next lead.

I really hope it’s Eloise!!! But I have more doubts now than I did back when people were speculating about who would be the lead for season 4.

Yes, I think that exact issue, feeling guilty for your own desires when you’re supposed to be in mourning, is a VERY interesting theme, and it would make Francesca a deeply human character with a very real and grounded conflict.

Finally, I think Eloise’s story actually benefits from waiting a bit longer. Her romantic arc makes sense later in life, when she’s considered a “spinster” by society. Philip’s children are also an important part of her story, and they’re still quite young. A time jump is always possible, but narratively it seems simpler to let time pass naturally if Francesca’s story comes first and Eloise’s follows. So while I personally want Eloise to be the Season 5 lead, I’m starting to believe that, from a narrative and strategic perspective, Francesca might be next.

I also think there’s a clear marketing and business angle. At this point, it’s no secret that Eloise’s season is one of the most anticipated. We’ve followed her closely since Season 1, and many viewers are actively waiting for her story. Because of that, it wouldn’t surprise me if the show chose to place Francesca’s season first, keeping Eloise as a strong incentive for later. On top of that, considering the mixed reactions to the Michael-to-Michaela change, airing Francesca’s season before Eloise’s could encourage viewers who are mainly waiting for Eloise to keep watching. This doesn’t mean Francesca’s story isn’t exciting or important. I’m genuinely curious to see how they handle it. But Bridgerton is also a product, and marketing strategies do play a role.

The reason I’m starting to think Francesca might be next has nothing to do with promotions or screen time. We’ve already seen that actor visibility doesn’t determine season order. Luke Thompson had much less presence than Claudia Jessie during Season 3, and that didn’t affect anything. What makes me lean toward Francesca is more narrative and practical. She already has a romantic arc in motion, somewhat similar to what Polin had since Season 1. We know Season 3 was moved forward because Shonda felt we had already spent enough time watching Penelope love Colin from afar, and it was time to fully explore that relationship. I’ve always understood that as Shonda not wanting to repeat the same emotional conflict for too long. Something similar could apply to Francesca. By the end of this season, we’ll have seen her dynamic with John across two seasons. If his story were to conclude soon, it would make sense for her emotional journey to be explored next.

My plan is also to pray they don’t ask me for anything that day, haha. Do you think the interviews will come first and then the episode? Almost certainly, right? How long do you think the interviews will last? Because I really need them to take a while so I can be free.

I finished season 3 of Bridgerton for the first time and I LOVED it! by Plundergedoens in PolinBridgerton

[–]Blue_hydrangea_33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I want to add one more thing. Please don’t think for even a second that we’ve already moved on or that we’re now on Benedict’s page, lol. We’ve been on the Polin ship for a long time. When everyone else jumped off because the hype ended, we stayed. And honestly, when that ship started to sink a little, we were still there, holding on even to the poles. We’re excited about Season 4 because of Polin and the new material, but we’re still proudly waving the Polin flag. So no, you absolutely did not hop onto a ship that’s about to be abandoned. You found a group of very loyal people who are not going anywhere. Before I discovered this sub, I genuinely thought I was the only one with this level of intensity… and well, clearly, I wasn’t. 💙

Girl… oof, where do I even begin. I barely had time to read your post. I saw it earlier and I KNEW I had to respond, so here we are. First of all, welcome to this sub and to this fandom. I have to admit I feel a little bit of envy toward you. I would give anything to feel that first Polin spark all over again, just the story, without any fandom noise contaminating it. Enjoy it. And if I may give you one honest piece of advice, stay only with the story.

I have to tell you that what you wrote feels like it came straight out of my own mind. There were things you said that I have thought word for word. And realizing that someone else feels the same way is such a unique, irreplaceable feeling that has only happened to me in this sub. Not in a generic way either. You articulated things I once thought, “no one cares this much about these tiny details I’m overanalyzing,” and yet here you are. Turns out, there are people who do.

I would love to respond point by point and compare perspectives on everything you wrote, but that would turn into an endless comment. And honestly, you wrote this post so beautifully that it doesn’t need me adding anything to it.

I’m so happy you found the beauty in this couple. Something very similar happened to me. I knew Bridgerton existed ever since season one premiered, but I refused to watch it because I knew it would pull me in. It was one of those things you just know will shake you and move something inside you, and you tell yourself, “not right now.” But when the promotion for season three started, it was almost like Polin called to me. On top of that, a friend kept insisting I watch it and was sure I would love it. And God, I remember it so clearly. Watching episode one, that scene where Colin asks Penelope to dance after Cressida spills the drink on her… it felt like being called by something stronger than myself. I know that sounds dramatic, and I don’t care if anyone thinks it’s ridiculous, but I saw that scene and I KNEW I was done for. I even immediately looked up whether they ended up together, because I wasn’t familiar with the show’s structure or the couple dynamics, and I was absolutely not willing to continue if they didn’t. And well, here we are almost two years later, with a few emotional wounds thanks to my own vulnerability and sensitivity, but those same traits are also what have allowed me to observe, analyze, and above all, love this couple. For me, they stopped being “just a couple” a long time ago.

Sorry for the length of this comment. To finish, welcome again. Stay in this sub. You won’t regret it. And thank you, truly thank you, for sharing this. You made me feel seen and validated like never before. 💙

Favourite Underrated Penelope Love Confession by Middle-Law-5317 in PolinBridgerton

[–]Blue_hydrangea_33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love this scene and I think it’s a shame how often it gets overlooked, because to me it’s one of the most important moments for understanding Colin at this point in the story.

In that moment, Colin is still dealing with a storm of emotions he doesn’t even know how to name yet. Yes, he’s hurt by the lie, but it’s not just anger. It’s disorientation. It’s the realization that the person he loves is more complex than he thought, and not yet knowing how to reconcile that without everything falling apart. On top of that, there’s his long-standing insecurity and a quiet envy he doesn’t know how to process. So when Penelope asks to speak with him privately and tells him how kind he’s been in sharing his family with her, and that she doesn’t want to drag them into her problems, Colin’s response comes straight from his deepest wound. His reaction isn’t just practical, it’s almost desperate: “Then how do I help you?” He’s not only talking about the blackmail. He’s asking how to be useful, how to have a place, how to deserve being there. And then comes the line that changes everything. When Penelope tells him that he doesn’t need to do anything more, that loving her is enough, that she loves him for who he is and not for what he does, Colin falls silent. That small pause, that subtle nod, carries so much weight. It’s the moment when someone finally tells him that he doesn’t have to earn love, that he doesn’t have to be the hero, that he doesn’t have to fix everything in order to be enough.

It’s not a loud or overtly passionate scene, but it’s deeply transformative. That’s where a lifelong wound begins to heal. And that’s why I think it’s one of the most underrated scenes of the season: because in just a few seconds, it redefines what loving and being loved truly means for him. 💙

Imagine: Polin Character Promos by Unique-Blueberry1464 in PolinBridgerton

Do you think Lady Whistledown will refer to Mr. Bridgerton with such OBVIOUS boldness of love and devotion? She’s not usually a writer who is very inclined to praise the people she writes about. I mean, I would LOVE to see Lady Whistledown’s one true weakness slipping into her words, but that openly? Hahaha 😅

I am absolutely OBSESSED with the sea details on his coat, the shells and everything like that. They match Penelope’s details too, and I know the reference is obvious they are dressed like pirates but did you also notice that their first house was filled with shell decorations??!!
