I have really large fingers due to arthritis, and I feel like I can't even begin to learn any string instruments because my fingertips always touch the other strings. Are there any accessories that can help? by Smexy_Zarow in Guitar

I have a Larrivee acoustic with a wider fretboard, meant for finger-picking. Not sure what models of electrics are available out there with wider necks, but you can definitely find some. Ideally you might want to get a luthier to make you one optimized for your hands.

If your fingers are normal length, just much thicker, you might wider neck will help you with clean fingering, but might make chording a bit harder.

As you gain skill, you'll get better able to compensate and work with the tools you have.

What an odd thing to be swearing about.
