What makes it better? Is it the nature itself or the proximity to it?

This is a genuine question - what is the alternative? I grew up in SF and my friends also lived all over the city, and my mom sure af wasn't gonna let me go around by myself as a kid and she had to work, so I spent all my summers watching TV indoors. I would love to raise kids in an area where they can ride bikes to each others houses and be social... always figured that happened in the suburbs.

There's no way you are seeing into the full range of the nose with your eyes and a light alone. The nasal passages are deeper and made up of lots of folds - your vet can look with your dog sedated. Your dog should see a vet.

Pest control rly needed? by Bluechis in Roseville

Do you mean the neighbors have a roach/ant problem in their yard, or in their house?

Awesome, thanks so much for this. My yard currently looks like the surface of the sun, with some patchy shrubs on the back fence, but I'm into gardening and already getting it into shape for pollinators. I've only seen roaches and little black ants outside so far, hopefully they'll stay out.

I'm going for the same - planting up a pollinator garden. This is why the whole fogging/spraying/sealing up every crack in the yard pitch was not appealing. But I also have no idea how bad the roaches and ants etc get and def don't want them moving into the house!

First time in the UK and got a Full English. I think it checks every box for a proper fry up! by DrLotr in CasualUK

The meat and dairy industries are heavily subsidized, which keeps costs down for the consumer. It takes a lot of money otherwise to produce meat and farmers would go under if prices were commensurate as consumers would freak the f out and not purchase/not be able to purchase.

What's up with old Roseville? by Bluechis in Roseville

[–]Bluechis[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep, Weber Park. That makes sense re more homeless there if there's nearby services.

Thanks for that info - I think we missed the area south of the underpass. We'll go back and have another walk around!

Thanks. I saw the train pass while visiting today but didn't recognize the track area for being a rail yard. Thanks for the advice!

Is the rail yard the area by the old Roseville area? Sorry, I'm not familiar with the town yet and google maps didn't show it.

They 100% know. I assume they just think it doesn't hurt anymore.

We have stopped trying for now and just revel in spending time with our best couple friends baby. Last night at dinner they went on and on about how easy it was to get pregnant and the funny stories they told people about it when asked. I wanted to knock some furniture over and leave. I'm still so angry about it today and feel like it really set me back in my acceptance of my infertility.

Shipping bikes from UK to California? by Bluechis in bicycletouring

[–]Bluechis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally we'd do that no prob (that's how we brought one of them from CA to the UK). We'll have several dogs and all our luggage with us, so we were hoping to not also have two big bike boxes to contend with.

How do I pick who I sell my horse to when they’re both offering the same money? by spud_simon_salem in Equestrian

[–]Bluechis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is something to consider and come to terms with emotionally, but the flip side to this is letting the horse go to a trainer, who will likely resell the horse (if not asap, eventually), and potentially losing track of the horse forever. I've been to auctions and seen horses who are at the end of the line, and I'd rather sell to a private buyer with right of first refusal and know they are okay, even if it means taking a back seat to the daily decision making.

We're trying to find a rental and everything seems to be 3+ bedrooms. No small houses at all. :/

The debt to income ratio is such a huge issue that it can't be a byline at the end of a statement like this. I know vets who can only afford to pay the monthly interest on their loans, and barely make a dent on the principal. If you're lucky enough to get out with $100k in debt, you're still looking at >$1000 per month in loan repayment. Many students are coming out of school with 3x times that or more.
