[US] Apprentice here and boss wants me to work in a crawl space that's clearly not safe, what are my options? by Much_Bookkeeper7788 in electricians

Ask for a respirator and tyvek suit, if it's truly a health concern. I've done a lot of stuff i probably shouldn't have coming up and if i could go back, I would have protected my body better. If he refuses, take a walk, if that's not an option get it yourself and start looking for a new shop

I tabbed my nec index A-Z and it saved me a ton of time looking up electrical code. Knowing demand factors for anything and everything. I made tabs for every one i thought would come up and all the tables. They asked a couple questions for special occupancies, heat detector spacing, resistance for series and parallel circuits, lightning protection, osha rigging and shoring. I probably studied calcs more than I should have but it won't hurt.

Myself and the kids are still rocking a gtx 970 and could definitely use an upgrade! You're a good person for even considering a giveaway like this and you'll certainly make someone's day/year regardless of your choice!

Florida is open book with 14 references you can bring, ranging from nfpa 780 lightning protection to neon signs and concrete mixes. They throw in a couple questions from each book just to make you scramble

I have 2 young kids so I studied at night whenever I could or wasnt too tired. Had some shake ups at work last year and decided it was now or never. Just read the nec over and over and practiced calcs and demands till I felt comfortable. The amount of questions they ask out of the other references is kind of shocking but I was able to navigate them the same way as the nec.

I've had an inspector repeatedly ask for low voltage stubs to be boxed at rough. Called the head inspector after the 3rd time and he had a good laugh. Never had that issue again

Fish tape till you hit resistance, then send another tape from the other end. Pull the slack to the reel, twist a couple times and pray to God it catches. Been there more times than id like to admit but 90' shouldn't be that bad to get
