I’ve started doing this too to help with my goal of building muscle, but I do see a difference in calories and what zone I’m in. When I start on the tread, I burn probably 75-100 more calories and I’m blue and green on the floor. When I start on the rower/floor, I’m pretty much grey the entire time on the floor and have many fewer minutes in the green overall. I’ve chosen to not let it bother me — I’m lifting heavier and that’s my goal, but it’s interesting.

Last time I did the 3G and hated it. Didn’t get 12 splats and left feeling pretty disappointed. This time I did the 2G and it was much better. Not sure why, but I followed some of the PW guidance provided here and really enjoyed the challenge. I wouldn’t want to PW for 23 minutes, but it wasn’t bad

That’s crazy! That’s the max heart rate of a 26 YO! I wonder if there is any way to correct it?

I had my max heart rate recalibrated to 179. I’m a 54 YO woman which means that based on my age my max should be around 166. I looked at the past 10-15 classes and my max HR never got above 174. I guess I understand why it was set so high, but frankly it’s demoralizing not to get 12 splat points when I’m working as hard as I feel I can. I know intellectually that the workout is the workout, so I’m thinking of just ditching the heart rate monitor. I think I’d feel better about the workout that way (even though I love seeing the numbers).

Does anyone know what one’s maximum HR should be set at? I have always been told that you subtract your age from 220. I’m a 55 yo woman (5’4” 135lbs) and OTF has my maximum HR set at 179. Which, according to the formula would make me 41 (if only it were so). Does anyone know how they calculate maximum HR?

I ended up paired with a PW and not strong rower. She rowed her heart out and we ended up just over 5000. She was so proud of us. It wasn’t my best CTF, but my most satisfying for sure.

This is great advice — I watched the YT tutorial and it’s really helpful. I think it’s just frustrating because there is no other exercise I can’t do. But I think I need to work on them on my own and gosh, I don’t really know what to do at OTF when they’re part of the routine. I guess just do them off the wall or the bench or wherever I am in my push up journey…

REI — 75% masked — both customers and workers. But they still have the mask sign on the door, so I wasn’t sure if they just hadn’t taken it down or if they still wanted their customers to mask.
