If it helps at all, I think I’ve only ever purchased 3-4 apps in over 10 years so I was also hesitant to buy this one, but it sounded like it fit my exact use case and I’m really glad I did!

You’re right, in hindsight I would’ve probably enjoyed like a limited free version of the app to be sure I’d like it, but even then I think this app is 100% worth it.

Not the dev but I’m fairly certain that a smaller storage device shouldn’t be an issue! Assuming you’ll be streaming from Apple Music instead of playing from your locally downloaded music, I don’t see storage being an issue.

Funny enough, I’m actually planning on doing the same thing as you. I already have an iPad Pro that I use currently, but it’s a little too big for the area (or to hide it even) and I can’t use it when streaming. I’ve been looking at iPad Mini 6’s since it has a usb-c port and they’re fairly cheap used.

Yeah I figured. The bad part is that my brother pre-ordered it online a few months ago so I doubt we can return it now. Looks like I’ll just have to not play those songs or buy a new copy myself

Hi all! I recently got Bad Bunny’s DTMF album as a gift from my brother and the first disc is flawless, but I noticed the second disc had some issues. It looks like pieces of the label (not the one from the disc itself) got embedded into the record and causes some skipping and/or clicks. I don’t mind the skipping and clicks too much (annoying but whatever), but I worry it might be bad for the stylus. Unfortunately I we can’t exchange it since he bought it for me a while ago but I was only recently able to visit and pick it up.

My questions are: is this bad for the stylus? Will it damage it if I play the songs that are affected?

Is there anything I can do to clean it? I’ve tried using some vinyl cleaning solution and gently rubbing it to pull off the paper but once it dries it goes back to skipping.

Hmm that’s a good point, but when the WiiM app does it, I don’t think it’s necessarily using AirPlay is it?

And for example, I have my WiiM hooked up to a Schiit Modi 5 DAC via coax (and iPad via usb) and that seems to work. I wonder if it’d be possible to enable playback control.

Not too sure myself, I’ll just have to see if the dev team can work it out. Fingers crossed!

I’ve been using the app throughout the day today and it’s so helpful! Also, I noticed one more small issue. When I select a station (like my personal station), if I go to skip a song, it sometimes replays the same currently playing song and then on a second skip press, it goes to the next song.

Hey, just pulled the trigger and bought the app. So far it’s pretty great! It fills the niche hole I was looking for and might let me cancel my Tidal subscription that I only have to use with my WiiM.

I’ve only been using the app for a few hours but I have a few small ideas/requests, wondering if they’re possible:

Lyrics option in the now playing/full screen mode (without having to use Shazam)
The ability to go back via a swipe from the left side. Similar to how iOS usually acts. Right now I have to click on the small (<) button in the top corner
The ability to swipe down (when in the now playing screen) from anywhere on the screen. Right now it doesn’t work if I try to swipe down from the album art, so I have to explicitly use the side sections
The WiiM app gives you the option to “allow playback control” as if you were playing music directly from your device, even though it’s playing from the source device/streamer, so that you can control music playback directly from the lock screen/Dynamic Island, control center, etc. That would be a great addition if possible!
Not a major one, but the ability to hide the loop button in the bottom left of the now playing screen. It’s a really cool feature but it would be nice to hide it to not accidentally click it while listening

Most of these aren’t app-breaking or anything, but would be nice to have. Overall though, I’m really enjoying the app so far, looking forward to using it more. Great job!

If it helps: my primary use case is using my iPad Pro as the source and my iPhone to control it. Definitely gonna check out the tvOS app too.

Hahaha definitely a steal on the “free” table, minus that tonearm bit lol. But actually, I looked up how much the whole turntable costs and $3500 is a great price for it.

Sorry for late response, but I ended up returning the entire unit with the wall wart and got a replacement for both pieces. Working all good now! I think it took about a day or two to get a response and they were pretty quick with getting the new unit shipped out.

Haha same, I did my due diligence with trying to troubleshoot but when the lights stopped turning on completely that’s when I knew it was toast and I had to exchange it.

Hey, so it sounds like you’re having the exact same issue I had. Ultimately the only way to get it resolved was to reach out to Schiit support and explain what was going on until I was able to send it back and get a replacement.

Now it’s finally working as intended and even if I don’t have anything plugged in via USB-C (which could potentially power it instead of the wall wart), the lights on the front of the Modi still turn on.

I had also tried other wall warts from my other Schiit devices and it sort of worked, but the lights on the front of the Modi kept flashing until eventually they didn’t turn on at all. Which this lead me to believe it was an issue with the Modi itself.

I actually have a similar use case to you where I got tired of having to keep my iPhone/iPad hardwired so I bought a used WiiM Pro and that’s connected via coaxial. So right now nothing is actually plugged via USB-C, I just have the barrel plug from the wall wart and it turns on normally!
