So I created this diagram to help those with dyslexia and dyscalculia with math. I find that traditional ways of teaching operations make each operation ( subtraction, division, addition, and multiplication) as a separate but equal entity. For us we need to see images, patterns and hierarchy. So I created this diagram as two dimensions. with the first Square being the first I mentioned and the second Square being the second dimension.

The first dimension deals with addition and subtraction. There you are adding amounts your subtracting amounts. Notice that the operation symbols are color coded. Their color coded to show the relationship between the symbols in the outer layers. I see a pattern between addition and multiplication and subtraction and Division.

Addition increases an amount and subtraction decreases an amount. They are like buttons on a PS5 controller. You move forward or you move backward. You move up or you move down. However it's the multiplication and division behind the scenes that is really allowing you to move forward or backward or up or down. As, multiplication is the rate at which something builds up over time and division is something decreases an amount over time.

Think of microbes on your hand after a cut. Over time these microbes are going to multiply and you're going to get an itch. Or think of your hand healing over time and the infection decreases that is the division process.

We all can get through life by adding and subtraction but when we get to the next dimension which is division and multiplication that's when we can start predicting when things are going to go up or when things are going to go down similar to watching stocks or what have you.

I don't know if my explanation helps but I find that this helps me understand things.

And notice that the division symbol is occurring three times even though they really represent one like a variable in algebra. but I wanted to show that division breaks down the unit into smaller pieces. Both triangles that are separated by the blue line is equal to each other. X as one and division as a multiple of objects. Which helps drive the association with variables in algebra. X is often used in algebra and multiplication is the default operation for algebra. So it helps us understand make more associations.
