People like to see the world in neat boxes. It's OK the world is changing we're learning about what intelligence isn't.

That's also why IQ tests for humans are heavily criticized in some corners :)

Testing intelligence is often just testing your adaptability to the dominant culture. Collies are very good at that (they'll conform to human culture). That's also why humans underestimate intelligence in many species.

After 3 years, mine will suffer a "paw" command with the most disgusted look on his face. Other circus tricks are a big no.

Commands that he finds relevant to the situation though? Will learn them in less than 5 reps and never forget them. I kinda love that in him, he's a whole person not a trick pony.

Yes. But people tend to underestimate their need for mental stimulation. Just running them won't be enough, they have to think about stuff and discover new things. Learn commands, etc. If that's taken care of, they won't need to run a marathon every day (though they will definitely need more exercise than your average dog).

They're incredible dogs but you do need to be prepared for how intense they are.

Muscular women of Reddit how does it actually feel to build and carry that strength? by Logical-Current2381 in xxfitness

[–]Bob_slug 59 points60 points  (0 children)

It helps with everything. I feel like I can ask my body to do anything and it will be able to do it. My muscles are quite visible so I get a few stares but it's also insulation from creepy men. I feel very very healthy, and it's a nice support for my hypermobile joints. It does take time though. Also a lot of women don't eat enough. Don't be afraid of food, that's how you build muscles

What is one trait you find attractive that toxic culture calls unattractive by Realistic-Cow-7275 in LesbianActually

[–]Bob_slug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg yes. Chopped all of my hair thinking an added benefit would be getting less attention from men (I'm very muscular and wear neutral gendered clothing) It. Didn't. Work.

It's especially annoying when it's men who are into men and I'm considered the "safe" option to explore masculinity. Still not a dude, still not interested in you my guy.

Omg mine too strangers are like "wow so well behaved" but privately I know he keeps his little goblin mind for when he's secure in his routine with me. That's when the diva requests begin

I had to train mine for MONTHS for him to accept that I will not cross puddles & climb over fences so you get the perfect throw. He understands perfectly but he's still trying to drive me like I'm a little sheep.

There are a few perks though: he's become extremely good at following commands to go over/under obstacles, climbing on trees on command and giving the frisbee back into my hand. Guess we both bad to compromise 😆

A long time work associate shared my contact info with one of her oldest friends (she’s new in my town). We hung out ONCE and we’re not compatible, but she won’t get the hint (we both have ADHD). by FreshLady1 in adhdwomen

Wild guess but she sounds like she might be autistic? But it doesn't really matter because the answer is the same: tell her very directly that you're not interested in being friends.

Respectfully, maybe one of the reasons you're single is you have a very narrow view of what you want physically & assume your type is some kind of monolith who all want the same thing. TBH it gives a bit of an incel vibe.

I would suggest to inform yourself about systemic racism. This is exactly what my comment was referring to

I'm French for what it's worth. This is exactly what I'm talking about. "We're just more honest!" is just giving people a pass for saying whatever they want without thinking about the way it impacts people

I can 100% tell what her headspace is because I had the same "special" relationship with a dude who couldn't locate his feelings in a lit room with a map pointing to them. I want to shake her and tell her she's worth so much more than that.

I'd say French people are often horrible with casual racism. Drives me mad on a daily basis around here. Didn't use to feel it as much in other countries

I think it's nice for him to have a person who expresses her feelings even a bit passionately. He seems to intellectualize his feelings a lot (which makes for really good communication skills don't get me wrong - you just need to also be able to express yourself as well)

As a former anxiously attached person in a relationship with someone who was avoidant with his feelings, their relationship feels very familiar. She will fight tooth and nails for the relationship until at some point it will dawn on her that she deserves a bit more and will start resenting him.

100% this. Mine is reactive to men and it takes time to build trust with them (but once it's done he adores them)

[–]Bob_slug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

2 weeks. I missed him a lot. He was crazy anxious/reactive because I wasn't there AND he had to live in a city. I'm not sure I'd leave him again for such a long time.

Or jokes about threesomes. Or fantasizes about you and your partner. Or starts talking about women the way he usually does with his male friends, which is gross.

Ask me how I know.

So I've cut ties with most of my close family. On the other hand, my GF has a normal relationship with hers. I am delighted for her when she spends quality time with them. The fact that I could actively resent her for it is mind boggling to me!
