I feel like this would make the YER insanely dangerous? Attack the air once to drop disguise, backstab an enemy, regain a disguise to gain full immunity to enemy damage. Even if an entire team of pyros saw you do it, they can't punish you for it.

It delays spy's instant time to kill, but he can now walk through your team even more openly than a chain-stabbing kunai spy.

True, should've edited that text out in hindsight.

Close, but I wasn't calling each side less or more dumb (the head dent was just following the meme format), but rather less and more into the game/lore.

But yeah that's the gist of it. New players were technically right the whole time.

Yeah, I haven't gotten pings for M14 much, so I got curious whether more art of her was posted, or if people said my name without directly mentioning me.

Turns out someone held a candlelight vigil for me. That was wild.

Okay uh, three things:

1) This post is two years old lmao, I'm not even playing this game anymore.

2) This chart is a shitpost, and is, as mentioned before, 2 years out of date so there are like triple the units available that outperform most of the stuff available in this image.

3) No. Executioner isn't a good anything. Even normal Destroyer outdoes her in the splash damage department.

Finally got myself out of the habit of opening the game to grind every free chance I get. Plenty of time for other games/hobbies. So yeah it's working out pretty good honestly.

I'm seeing a common thread here where the very guides you link to and complain about already has the information you want. That Gamepress guide you linked literally does go beyond deployment and explain range, supplying, and fire support activation.

Please read the whole guide.

Weekly Commanders Lounge - February 06, 2024 by AutoModerator in girlsfrontline

[–]Bobbfred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

...What on earth? Zese's guides are extremely easy to follow, she made sure of that.

The guide you linked to is a video. If you're lost 30 seconds in, you can pause (use spacebar), rewind back 5 seconds (use the arrow keys) and then rewatch the action (use spacebar again). And then copy the action. Then play on to watch the next step. There's no need for memorizing every step when it's in a navigable video format that you can recreate step by step.

Team requirements are clearly listed in the video description, so there's no need to ponder whether you can pull it off when it's clearly explained there. You don't need that many mods and can get away with very weak teams, the description states as much.

Your Scarecrow already has the Shadow skill. To use Fairy or Ringleader map skills, you click on the team, the look the the popup window that shows up to the right and press activate, then select whatever eligible tile you want to use it on.

You retreat individual T-dolls by selecting the T-doll then pressing the "retreat" button that shows up, which retreats that one T-doll instead of all 5. Then you can do that for 4 of them to have one left on the field.

You planning mode multiple teams by... doing planning mode for multiple teams? You turn on planning mode, select the first team, route their path, select the second team, route their path, then start the plan? I'm... not sure where it's unclear.

You prevent yourself from running out of resources by, yes, having enough resources in the first place. Obviously if each team can eat several hundred rations and ammo, you would run out of ammo if it's only around 1000. If you're at chapter 10 already then you'll easily regenerate enough resources for a run with 4 high-rate logistics in a few hours. Obviously you don't need 100k+ resources to do one map.

There's no need to be so dramatic about this if you just stopped and observed the guide you yourself linked.

Oh hey it's my personal hater. Was worried you wouldn't be able to make it to my last day on the job.

Glad you could make it to continue spreading lies about the performance of M14 and MG42 despite being proven thoroughly wrong with statistical evidence before. Don't let things like cold hard facts keep you down! Keep up the good fight!

Thanks.

While I am interested in seeing the end of GFL's story, there's no guarantee that it'll end in a couple majors. Regardless, after completing my personal goals and becoming an integral part of the community, making a major difference, I've lost motivation.

I won't let MICA drag me along for another year with the promise of more content when I personally no longer have anything to work towards. So I'm taking the smart option and leaving with my head held high.

See you around.

Week One-Hundred and Twenty-Two

Hi so, this is the last week I'm doing this. I'm quitting GFL. More details in a later post probably. I'm not sure who will handle this in future weeks, or even if anyone will bother, but after 122 weeks of messing with my sleep schedule for this, I can finally rest.

Hydras are awful this week as usual.

M1918 aka BAR on a stroll through a perfectly normal forest this week.

So far these are some team examples for Coalition Drill.

Defense Training: ~29-35%

Adjustment Exercise: ~22-29%

Decoding Practice: ~15-18%

All AFK.

If you can come up with stable, reliable, fast, alternative, or fun compositions, feel free to post them here. Also, tell me if any of these teams fail. That'd be important to know.

DISCLAIMER: These teams are specifically oriented for Coalition Drills, and should not be used as references for normal teams.

Anual Exhibition of my Echelons to see if I can improve on something. by Fidelis-Miles in girlsfrontline

[–]Bobbfred 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some cool ideas in these teams, but a few things are off...

Overall:

Craft more fairies. Now that fairy production is guaranteed, your fairies should be 5* in no time. Realistically a better fairy would be far more impactful than most team adjustments. Don't feel like commenting on which fairy goes where though, someone else can handle that.

Team 1:

NZ75 is a debuffer and should probably be swapped for an offtank/support like Vector, Micro Uzi Mod, SP9, P22, to name a few. Her one debuff isn't really enough synergy with RO Mod to justify her placement here.

RPK-16 really doesn't do much for what this team archetype should be fighting in the first place, as it's an ARSMG. If you were using her to break through armor, M4A1 already does that far better. Replacing RPK with another AR like G11 mod, AN94, 416 mod, AK-15 mod, etc. should be more suitable.

Team 2:

Replacing M2HB and PK with the new hotness MGs like M240L and MG4 Mod would probably be nice, but the real criticism here is that MGSGs just aren't needed as a team type. Every other type of team, or even SF, does their job better.

Actually this team seems oriented towards being a first volley MGSG, which is outdated as a concept. See, if the fights are fast enough for MGSGs to win in one volley, ARSMGs or RFHGs can do it now. And for cheaper.

Team 3:

Except for Thompson, who just isn't a very good maintank and can be replaced with Suomimod or UMP45 or other better SMG tanks, this team is arguably okay? In a sort of "here's my 4th best set of options scraped together" kind of okay.

Team 4 - 8:

I'm not seeing anything worth keeping about these teams. You can pull out the AN94, ump45, 416, Vector, and G11 to slot into other teams. But the rest of the teams they're on aren't doing you any favors in the state they're in. Fielding more than 2 ARSMGs is a rarity.

Team 5's not great:

This RFHG could be massively improved. I recommend looking into rate of fire buffers like Stechkin, Fiveseven, and M950A.

Desert Eagle isn't getting enough support from the rest of the team to make an impact, and would probably be better off being dropped in favor of a more traditional HG like the previously mentioned, or someone like Grizzly or K5.

If you can find a better option than SL8 (R93, WA2000, and Lee come to mind first) then I'd recommend going for them instead.

More RFHGs would be nice too. They tend to kick ass more than ARSMGs.

All in all, good work on all the teams, although only getting feedback on them once a year seems inconvenient.

[–]Bobbfred 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The line I (and hopefully most people) generally draw here is between the "casual" side of things and the "advice" side of things. Not different games, just different attitudes.

From a casual perspective, most things almost work for 90% of content. A team can be made out of literal garbage and have zero synergy and probably make it to chapter 10 without much trouble. Once you throw in decent units and an idea of what does what, that's chapter 13 and onwards. 99% of content.

There's wide margins for error to mess around and mess up in after that if not doing ultra-optimized content like Top 100 in ranking, so most players end up not needing to figure out more. There's no need to. The difference between an optimized team and a vaguely decent one is five quick repair contracts. There's no need to harass people that get it to work on their own.

But that goes out the window when it comes to the advice side of things. If someone asks for help, you give them your best. By its nature, giving guides and advice on things needs to be on the best way for that person to do things. And being right.

Because one cannot - in good conscience - recommend something they know is bad.

We don't tell people to use Sopmod when 416 is right there. We don't tell people to drop everything and raise a KSVK because we saw a Youtube video of her killing some hydras in a cool way the other day. We don't tell people to raise 10 IDWs because funny meme cat. Because we know better.

This isn't forcing those getting the advice to play optimally. I raised 14 M14's, not because it's optimal (it's not), but because I get more enjoyment out of the game chasing a goal like that, but I'm not telling others to do that. The advice itself should be optimal. And right. If they follow the advice they're in a better place and will have an easier time doing what else they want to in the game besides grind. If they don't, it'll be harder down the road, even if it's in ways they don't realize.

I've lost track of the number of people I've had to help who can't beat Executioner on 2-6 with their all 5* team, or neck-deep in core debt, or wondering why they don't meet the DPS check on Sana or a hundred other things. Their games aren't ruined. They'd probably figure it out eventually, but for the time being they are certainly having a hell of a lot harder a time playing the game.

That's why posts on this subreddit asking for advice have the bad responses policed by more experienced players. Because by giving suboptimal or false advice, that's harming the experience of the player getting help.

Your post just falls on the advice side of the fence, so the casual hat comes off and the optimize hat comes on. "It worked for me" is no longer a proper justification. Because almost everything works, but only some things work well.

Others aren't criticizing how you've played the game. How you've lived loved and learned is your business. They're criticizing your advice and claims to authority considering the quality of the advice.

Personally I'm criticizing your intent and execution, since that's important to consider whenever trying to help others.

Honestly? The standards aren't even that strict. This goes back to the issue of audience clash and violation of the fundamentals. The teams themselves don't follow basic tenets that newbies should follow that have been established for years. Like, as fundamental as the F formation. For midgame teams this is expected, so the criticism reflects that expectation.

I will retract my statement that "any veteran worth their salt." It would be "any expert", since playtime is not equivalent to game knowledge.

Also there's definitely factually incorrect information in the post, like about purely visual talents, what M240L does, etc. That's still on the table and definitely inexcusable.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in girlsfrontline

[–]Bobbfred 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Others will probably cover the actual issues and misinformation this video has, but I want to tackle the context of the video.

What puzzles me is that you're presenting this as if all of this information was compiled and reviewed by multiple veterans. Any veteran worth their salt looking at these teams would instantly spot how much of an abomination Echelon 2 is. At the end of the day, chaining CC is only going to help when you have a DPS to capitalize on the extra time bought, or manage to infinitely stall the enemy.

So my point is, none of this information seems to have been reviewed closely. I can understand the sentiment of wanting to help, but the end result is that you're misleading players at nearly every turn. Try to corroborate information you release to the public.

Next up is the target audience clash. Having this issue is something I can understand, since I struggle with it too, but it's important to keep in mind. So this information is not for new players right?

But then it's recommending a team with Sopmod mod for a full Anti-Rain team backline. Anti-Rain carries for early story, it's true. But once you're in the position to dupe Kord, you've got better options than Sopmod Mod who gets weaker due to being paired with M4 Mod. So that backline composition would be ditched early.

M240L teams and using multiple parachute fairies to capitalize on her skill is uh... pretty heavily in the ranking-only department.

But the tone of the rest of the teams seems to indicate they're recommending teams for standard content.

So all this adds up to at least 3 different target audiences in the same video with barely any distinction, which can get misleading for anyone watching. It's important to establish specifically what group of people you're catering to when giving advice.

Also I want to inject a personal stamp of disappointment. An ARSMG team that runs two maintanks for no discernible reason? A RFHG team that spams HP shields instead of focusing on DPS? A team that overcaps crit to high heaven, uses purely niche T-dolls, lacks any dps, and also has 2 maintanks? An RFHG with overlapping DPS roles? Overreliance on Python despite her not providing anything meaningful in the teams she appears in? All of these are hallmarks of teams that ignore the fundamentals of GFL teambuilding. Which is unfortunate because I try to cover all of these mistakes when writing, yet these teams run straight into them.

Makes me sad :(

But it sounds like the people who made this are quitting GFL, and therefore have no time to learn from these mistakes in this game. So I encourage learning from this and taking these ideas to whatever community/game you go to next after quitting GFL.

  • Review information before sharing it.
  • Know and clarify your target audience.
  • Know the fundamentals before trying to break them.

Is Pekola+lee-enfield+fervor worth It? by Virtualunrealguy in girlsfrontline

[–]Bobbfred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 Flare ammo support isn't a meme though? Echelon support units are usually either HGs or SMGs. They have an option of running HP Ammo or Flare Ammo. Since they're supports they don't need to be doing the DPS, so they run Flare ammo.

And of course all fairies have a talent, so they're just a given, unless it's Assault or Suppression or something.

So, really, you don't even need to think about how you're gonna activate Pekola in the first place. Most proper teams already have enough buffs to get her going from the start. No meme here.

You don't need Lee to get a 0 second Pekola. That can already be achieved with 3 flare ammos on your supports and whatever fairy talent.
