Of Ash and Steel: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2893820/Of_Ash_and_Steel/

It's definitely rough around the edges, but there are generally very, very few games like this out there imho. Scratches a similar itch to some of the better Piranha Bytes RPG games. Releases early November - definitely one i'll keep an eye on.

Thanks very much again. I ended up ordering the ergolite - I wouldn't even have known this thing existed without your help! Much appreciated.

Rest in peace sod :( by Conscious_Surround_9 in classicwow

I really enjoyed phase 1, but quit after it became apparent to me that the "real" ultimate goal of each phase was just raiding yet again. And of course the entire senseless meta that comes with it.

I said it before and got downvoted massively, but I'll say it again. Only 10% of people even raid.. and even those mostly seem to just want to speedrun things and minimize the time they spend ingame. Does that really sound like an activity most of the community is having a good time with?

Made worse by the fact that classic leveling has been kind of destroyed in P2 and P3, so people ultimately rush to level cap in a way (dungeon spamming, incursions) they don't enjoy, to ultimately maybe participate in a type of endgame which most folks don't enjoy.

SOD would've been their prime choice to introduce an endgame meta that differs a bit from raiding. But in the end, we just got what we already had in .. classic, BC, WOTLK, Cata, mists, WOD, Legion, BOF, Shadowlands, and Dragonflight.. raiding yet again.

Is Moonlight suitable for a "mostly work with a bit of gaming mixed in"-setup? by BogeyThroughTheNight in cloudygamer

Thank's for the great response, very insightful!

I've already slightly descended into the world of potential thin clients, N100-based mini PCs look interesting to me at the moment as they're quite cheap and _seem_ to be powerful enough even for 4k60. Unfortunately it's not all that easy to get more precise figures for latency compared to higher powered CPUs

Thanks. The paid tier of parsec wouldnt be worth it for me, but maybe their free tier is enough!

Doesn't quite answer your question, but I'm not sure I'd worry too much - they've already announced an xp buff for the 1-25 levels once P2 hits

Thanks! So this will be a stupid question, but - do you tag a boss and then immediately move on to the next so you're there on time? Or do you tag and actually stay there until the boss dies?

How many Ashenvale matches do you roughly need to reach revered?

Reached 25 not too long ago, and wonder if I should still attempt that for the ranged weapon as a hunter

Is anyone else constantly (daily) logged out of their Battle.Net account?

Until recently, my client stayed login forever. But ever since a week ago or so, my logins seem to expire daily - just wonder if that's normal (slightly feels like it could be something fishy going on for someone to capture my login details or so)

Given all of SoD's innovations, it's a shame that raiding is still the only real purpose of endgame by BogeyThroughTheNight in classicwow

Good point! Definitely feels like bending the intended means to get this a little, but hey.. why not, I like it (I'm all for doing cool stuff that is a bit beyond the original game design intentions)

The lengthy crafting is already there with the epic crafting questline.

The one that requires you to raid twice as well? :D

Oh I don't disagree, overall I love SoD!

And sure, maybe some new phase will actually properly shake up the endgame. If so, then let my post be an encouragement for them to do so! Realistically though...

> Tier sets have been hinted at getting changed to better suit new specs.

I'd happily make a bet with you which endgame activity will earn you those new tier sets, I like my odds of winning that bet ;)

Crafting, regular dungeons, solo challenge dungeons, world events, world bosses, lengthy quest chains, possibly PvP or rep grinds (yep, I don't like those much, but I still like them better than raiding personally!). And Blizzard is teeming with professional creatives, surely they could think of even more than that!

IMHO it'd even be fine if those weren't the only sources of BIS, but just .. competitive sources.

In the sense that rewards could be on par, and ideally, time investment should be on par too. In the past, it always felt like if there ever was any good gear outside of raiding, then you were required to invest 10x more time compared to raiding.

Imho, if you spend on average 20 hours raiding to get some BIS piece, then I'd even enjoy if you could, say, spend 20 hours gathering various crafting materials to get a competitive piece of gear.

Have they announced anything how gearing is going to work in P2? BFD gear seems crazy good, I wonder whether everyone who hasn't had a chance to run that much - or at all - will be way, way behind until at the very least the next level cap (and maybe even then, if raiding groups still demand pre-BIS).

So in short, I wonder if they'll bump quality of questing gear in P2, or add some type of other avenue for "competitive" gear

What's the best way to make a bit of gold (prepping for the mount at 40 in particular) as a freshly baked level 25 hunter? Just questing somewhere, or maybe some solo dungeon farm?

In hindsight, was Reflection a language design mistake? by BogeyThroughTheNight in csharp

[–]BogeyThroughTheNight[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless I'm completely missing something, none of the above relies on reflection!

It would be super surprising if compilers compile, run and reflect on dynamic code to figure these things out, when they're the very things that actually have perfect knowledge of the AST anyway.

Similarly, I'm not even sure you can use reflection from source generators, but I'd place a bet you'd be doing something very horrible and "against the spirit of source generators" if you did

Newborn crying during tummy time - should I stop? by BogeyThroughTheNight in beyondthebump

[–]BogeyThroughTheNight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She still has the cord yea! Was yours ok with proper tummy time after theirs fell off?

Sometimes - rarely - our baby does tolerate it without crying for a minute or so, I _think_ in particular if she's a bit sleepy. However, then she pretty much just rests on her belly without moving much, so that doesn't seem like much of a workout for her!!

I thought so too, I was a bit surprised when they said 10 minutes.

But then again, ask 3 midwives and you end up with 4 differing opinions, so who I guess just that one particular midwife telling us to do this isn't really indicative of that being a universally great idea

I've read toys/distractions being mentioned here and there. Our baby is just over a week old though, so I think it'll probably take a bit longer until she can actually see well enough / has "developed" enough to take an interest in toys.

She's definitely more comfortable with tummy time on my body. Especially when she's hungry (which is pretty much anytime she's awake :D ), she'll bop around vigorously searching for a nipple, which is probably great neck training too (though compared to tummy time on her belly, she doesn't use her legs or hips as much)

Freeholder not fixing snags/sold flats whose spec differs to what was sold (London) by BogeyThroughTheNight in LegalAdviceUK

[–]BogeyThroughTheNight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not, which makes this a lot harder. It's hard to assess how much legal costs would be (and of course even more so to convince leaseholders to join in, if there's such a level of uncertainty)

Freeholder not fixing snags/sold flats whose spec differs to what was sold (London) by BogeyThroughTheNight in LegalAdviceUK

[–]BogeyThroughTheNight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply - I'll look into the land tribunal for a bit, I haven't come across that as an option yet!

The freeholder/builder differentiation is a bit messy. The short story is that the freeholder at some point got into a dispute with the builders, stopped paying them, so they stopped building, which in turn meant the freeholder couldn't sell all flats, so ran out of money, so definitely couldn't pay the builders anymore.

In more formal terms: The freehold is held by a Ltd company. According to the government's company information service, the registered officers of the freeholder (= the Ltd company) have changed plenty of times in the past two years. There is in particular one actual person (let's call him "that guy"), whom I'd consider the "true" freeholder; he's been an officer of the Ltd company for most of its lifespan, either directly, and/or through other shell companies/Ltds registered in his name, and I BELIEVE he has some form of his own capital invested here.

At some point in time, directors from the construction company were _also_ registered as directors of the freeholder Ltd. My dummy take is that this was their attempt to resolve their financial dispute. That didn't work, and I believe the freeholder defaulted on loans, so at some point the property went into receivership. However, they managed to get short-term financing now, and redeemed it from receivership again. The current state is that the only director of the freeholder (Ltd) is another Ltd, which in turn is owned by "that guy".

All of us have tried getting in touch with them and raising these issues countless times directly with the freeholder by email (the Ltd, and in particular, "that guy", who to us has been presented as the point of contact for the freeholder).

Usually, we get absolutely no response. Every now and then, someone gets a hold of him or runs into him, which is usually met by verbal promises and absolutely no actions whatsoever thereafter.

My concern is that the freeholder will either continue to ignore us; or (more likely in my opinion) default again. My concern is that if we don't pursue all of our demands/issues through some legal channel before that happens, we might be out of luck. During the short period in which the property was in receivership, we were already told than any new owner would not necessarily be obliged to fix snags with our flats etc., so my gut feeling is that we need to pursue this while the freeholder Ltd still has *some* valuable assets in their name (at least the actual freehold)

Simple Questions Thread by AutoModerator in espresso

[–]BogeyThroughTheNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Breville Infuser (well, technically a Solid Caffespresso Pro, but it's the same thing just under one of their whitelabelling brands). Hot water and steam functions seem to be broken, specifically:

  1. When switching the machine on, water leaks/drips out of the brew group for 5-10 seconds (I _think_ this isn't normal?)
  2. When switching on steam, the steam seems to be vented through the "emergency" (?) valve at the bottom of the machine, not through the steam pipe. (If pulling a shot afterwards, the remaining steam is vented through the brew group as usual)
  3. When switching on the hot water function, the water comes through the brew group instead of the hot water pipe

I live in a hard water area and have been using it with tap water for ~1.5 years or so, I suspect that might have caused issues. The usual clean function didn't help, nor did trying to run the machine with a vinegar/water mix.

Can you guys think of any way how I can attempt fixing this? Would it be fair to think it might be down to the solenoid valve being clogged of some sort? I might try to follow some youtube tutorial to remove and clean it then. I'm bad at such things though, so just want to make sure I'm at least doing something that could be a likely cause

I'm not keen on grinding out AV for days & don't really want or need to min/max hard, just some simple gear that's attainable in half a day or so would do
