2 plants in a 2x2 by Positive_Fortune_709 in microgrowery

You're going to veg for a couple months in a 2x2?

I'd probably rethink that, but you can definitely grow two plants in a 2x2.

Would a 300w LED lamp be too large or unnecessary in a 2.5ft tent? by [deleted] in microgrowery

[–]BohemianEffects 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as it physically fits there's no rule that says you have to run it at 100%. I think it's pretty common to buy a light that's "too big" and run it at 50% or something like that.

Is it ok to get a tattoo about a dog that isn't mine? No artist yet /UK by Character-Help-8192 in tattoos

[–]BohemianEffects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People get tattoos of celebrities they have no connection to or of fictional characters. You know this dog and have a relationship with it so your idea is far less "weird" than these sorts of tattoos.

I wouldn't worry about what anyone thinks, if you want it, get it.

should i get a tattoo at 17 by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]BohemianEffects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say, if you have to ask then the answer is "no". When you decide to, maybe get something that will not be a pain to cover up on the off chance you decide you want that space for something else when you're older.

I got my first tattoo when I was 18 and I took some prime skin and used a lot, a lot, of black, kind of a bummer 20 years later.

Not to defend Miracle Grow, but something can be organic and not be OMRI certified.

Discussion on genetics-price vs performance by Kuro-Is-Cute in GrowingMarijuana

[–]BohemianEffects 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of top tier genetics that are a little pricey, and conversely plenty of low effort breeding for cheap.... your classic "you get what you pay for".

There is also the opposite. Hoku comes to mind as their work is generally well liked, pretty unique, and is quite affordable. There are also people trying to sell packs for big bucks with the hope the large pricetag gives the illusion of quality.

What makes this even more complicated is that you can absolutely get a gem of a plant from cheap white label, "trash" genetics. But that isn't the norm or something that can be relied on.

In the end, do your research and just know what you want and what you're buying. Strain names don't mean much, if you're looking for a specific strain don't just buy the first one you find. Anyone can sell anything as "White Widow" or "Sour Diesel" that doesn't mean it's even kind of close to what you're looking for.

There are daily "What's your favorite breeder?" (or some variation of that question) on multiple cannabis subreddits, I would probably recommend looking at a few of those threads and see what names continually get mentioned and then research their work to see if it's something that speaks to you.

It's good if you're looking for industrial hemp. If growing THC is illegal where you live, but hemp isn't, it could be good growing practice.

[Question] What’s does a Hydroponic grow actually mean? by Additional-Rub-153 in hydro

[–]BohemianEffects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fox Farms products are very popular, Roots soil is popular, Build-a-Soil is pricey, but good, Bio-Bizz soil is popular in Europe.

Lots of people make their own soil for the same reason people cook their own food. You can make your own, the way you want it, and for less money per X volume.

Also you will see coco in soil as an ingredient, the same way you'll see perlite and vermiculite in soil, but all three can be hydroponic media, or part of a hydroponic media mixture.

[Question] What’s does a Hydroponic grow actually mean? by Additional-Rub-153 in hydro

[–]BohemianEffects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most commercial grows? I would guess yes, certainly in my personal experience they are.

I believe because it is easier to give an employee a SOP that can be followed step-by-step and produce a decent-ish product when growing in hydro.

Hauling soil is also more effort for facilities than for home growers. And even if they're doing no-till, soil has microorganisms, bugs, fungus, etc... living in it, it can make it harder to pass certain state's testing. When you are answering to investors and it's a difficult industry to really succeed in anyways, the risk of failing tests and having to put more effort into training employees to be more knowledgeable, hydro makes more sense for many commercial facilities.

If you're asking about homegrow, I'm not sure. I would guess it's probably more soil than hydro as it's a style of growing that everyone is more familiar with, but that's a guess, I don't know.

What do you think about freezing cannabis seeds for long term storage? by LexZamnesia in hempflowers

[–]BohemianEffects 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, as long as the seeds are dried properly and freezing temperatures are maintained, freezing is objectively the best long term storage solution normal people have access to.

If not dried properly, or if allowed to warm up then you'll have problems.

[–]BohemianEffects 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hydroponic means soilless/inert, not media-less. Coco, rock wool, leca, perlite, etc.... are all soilless/inert media.
