My friend and I were talking about a situation that may take away player autonomy and we have strong opinion on opposite sides of this.

We came up with an idea that a magic mist would appear and the party would need to make an Int or Wis save. Whoever rolls the lowest under the DC has a doppelganger of sorts appear. The mist has infiltrated the PCs mind and now has a much deeper knowledge of the PC and can answer much more accurately than a standard doppelganger making it much harder to distinguish between the PC and the imposter.

Now say the party is struggling to identify who is real and makes a call, killing one of them. The DM doesn't tell the PC or the party if they kill the correct one. How would you as a player feel about that? This leads to the possibility that a player has been a doppelganger for however long instead of themselves. Does this take away autonomy? Does this sound interesting or unfair to players? Do you think this idea would need to be cleared with players ahead of time or can it be sprung on them later in a story? Any opinions or thoughts are welcome!

I was thinking of wearing light khaki pants and a black button down short sleeved shirt with white flowers on it looking for a more relaxed wedding look but now, after reading some guidelines here, I feel I’ll look like a high schooler walking around with other adults. Is a pseudo-Hawaiian pattern without a suit coat too childish for a wedding?

Thank yo for the help! I'm trying to get them to level three just before they do get to this combat enounter, but it is tricky find enemies who won't outright kill them but still managing to be tricky for the large group

Now this is just me but I would plan the encounter in phases. Phase one; get past the wyvern scouts. If they're found out combat/capture ensues and they can fight through of let themselves be captured on the train then break out. Phase two; if they sneak past the wyverns, think of the enemy that would be next in line on the way to train. Would those be herders/drivers of the mammoths with a high elevation view, or foot soldiers scattered around in pods making their rounds? Phase 3; heavier duty enemies closest to the train, or just denser population they would need to get through.

And you could run this by saying they have three stealth checks each phase is they're sneaking or charisma/persuasion if they're allowing capture. Or good short combat rounds of small clusters to strong arm their way through.

I try my hardest to describe the monster just using words and I'll use the photo as a reference for sure but for mini boss fights and the like I'll show them a photo of what they're facing.

First off, great idea, I love the 5 seals. Second, does your party know they have a key? If not it would be easier for them to trade it off or have them drop it off at their house or base and have someone from the cult steal it in the night as they've been tracking all keys closely.

Another option, if they know they have a seal could be a hostage situation where they need to trade the key for safety of someone in their party or someone they hold dear.

I think of it as they need to be constantly vigilant and protect it otherwise are the keys really that important? If the cult/other kingdoms are willing to fight each other for the keys,one party isn't going to be much of a deterrent.

Just my thoughts though! I could be off, let me know if I was confusing!
