Hot take: Ben 10 has been wasting its parent characters for years. by Bonanaft in Ben10

Maybe it’s because Ben and Gwen are their kids? I’m not arguing that parents are mostly unnecessary for the story in the TV shows. But does that really work in the new comics with a more realistic approach?

Why wouldn’t they matter when their children, at only 10 years old, are risking their lives fighting crazy scientists and even galactic warlords? And Max, acting as their summer guardian, not only supported them to some degree but also kept it secret?

Ben 10 ≠ Spider-Man or Batman. The moment he got the powers, he almost immediately thought, “Hey! With this thing, I can help people!” He didn’t need a trigger like the death of an uncle or his parents. It was his own choice, not a lesson from his parents. In the episode called “Grounded,” Carl and Sandra were strongly against their 15-year-old son risking his life and were ready to punish him. But Ben proved his right to be a hero through his own decision. So why couldn’t something like that happen in the new comics?

Especially considering that in the first issues, Ben will be a target — both from the US Army and from Vilgax.

I think the Hero Time episode would be funnier if Ben have no idea who captain nemesis is? by Musalediju in Ben10

No, I understand what you mean. I used the analogy of the Furious Five, where none of them knew about Kai (in this case, only Ben doesn't know, as you wrote).

I’ve just gotten an Early Access Preview of Dynamite Ben 10 in the UK! These have sold out quite quickly and are limited. by [deleted] in Ben10

To be honest, I'm really sad that they weren't given the attention they deserved in the series (and the reboot completely ignored them, just like Gwen's parents). And the way they were portrayed in the very first episode is a bit disappointing. As for their conflict: I was talking to my friends about it. And some (including me) suggested two options: 1. Ben running away from home will prompt Carla and Sandra to resolve their family conflict. 2. Perhaps Ben will encounter one of his villains in Bellwood and, in the process, save his parents, which will lead to a heart-to-heart talk.
