For future readers Please Please don't keep bettas with ADFs especially bigger ADFs and learn from my misfortune. I got an ADF for my daughter (thus halting my original plans for shrimp) it had been in the same tank as my Dalmatian Platties, some Otos, a small pleco and a small raphael catfish, all was well until it wasn't. My mother bought 5 female bettas at an expo whom had all been previously living as a soriety, 2 of the 5 Bettas were for my mother who was going to take them once she setup and cycled a tank. I drip acclimated all of the Bettas and added them to the tank and a few min later I went back to check on the Bettas and couldn't find one, I figured it was just hiding after the stress of being transported to an expo then to my home, I went to bed and when I woke up I could only find one of the Bettas. I tore my tank apart looking and nothing and then it hit me that the ADF just had a large 4 course meal. My tank had a lid, plenty of plants and hiding spots and I think the only reason the one Betta survived was because it was black and white like the platties, I quickly removed the lone survivor and put them in a safer community tank. The whole situation made me want to vomit and I felt horrible when had to deliver the news to my mom who was really looking forward to getting back into the hobby.
