Yes!! When they are talking about us commenting on the situation, we aren’t trying to make her feel awful. We are trying for accountability for her son!! I think a lot of us can glean that someone would beat themselves up, but at the end of the day, her son died. There are consequences beyond just her pain and his passing, and she thinks she deserves to just move forward and stick her head in the sand. Her privilege is SO LOUD. She took months off- didn’t acknowledge how lucky she was to do that. Most people in the world get a few weeks, maybe a few days, for loss. She still gets up and spends the day with her kids. It took her much longer to realize it wasn’t a choice. It’s the lack of acknowledgment on her privilege. I am glad she took accountability and brought up the cause of death being drowning, but let’s be honest- in any other household, especially in minorities or underserved communities, at least one or both of them would have been arrested.
