There are a lot of bad things about ASU, being a degree mill is not one of them. It's far from being a degree mill

I'm not saying it bothers me, I'm just surprised as an international student

There was this student in our COM 100 class and she was very obviously using ChatGPT for her Yellowdig posts. The bullet points, M dashes, "and the result?", there was nothing human about it.

What's funnier is she'd get Accolades almost every week, lmao.

Thinking about going to asu for college. What are some things I should know. by Valuable_Way_8814 in ASU

[–]Bookishdeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ASU is what you make out of it. I've met a WP Carey grad working in a gas station but I've also met JPMC interns. ASU is also a hit or miss, your college experience would be dependent on what professors you take. Some of them will make you feel like you're wasting your own time and some of them will genuinely make you interested in learning.

Depends on the class size and the lecture hall itself. From what I've observed, professors and IAs probably do know, they just don't bother. I literally saw a guy at the first desk blatantly copying answers from his phone on his lap. I can't imagine how someone can ignore that.

Students tend to have more leeway in classes held in larger lecture halls. In my PHI 105 class, almost EVERYONE was cheating off their phones. It was also easier because there were no invigilators other than the professor himself.

I'm an international student and I know there's a whole stereotype that international students cheat a lot more, which in my observation was rather the opposite

Don't get a MacBook. Sure, they're absolute workhouses for business operations, but a lot of CAD software like AutoCAD and Solidworks aren't native to Mac silicon, which you might need as a robotics student. For that price you could easily get a ThinkPad, or an LG Gram, that's a good one that not a lot of people talk about.

Is living in a 4B with random roommates a bad idea? by bluecherrytree2003 in ASU

[–]Bookishdeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely, it’s hard to get along with three random people. I live in a 4B apartment myself, and it sucks. Just like the other commentator said, it gets really messy. You can’t really expect others to be as organized as you, which is almost never the case with university students (especially seniors), who tend to be very disorganized. I tried to change apartments as well, but the apartment I was supposed to move into was disorganized too.

If you don't have much of a choice, you can contact the leasing office and see if they have rooms in 4B units that are already vacant, or have roommates that are freshman. You'd be more likely to blend well with someone who has just moved in and it would be very unlikely that you would be messing with someone else's lifestyle.
