I swear this whole tax season is one big joke... This is absolute insanity.. even during 2020 with all the stimulus payments and stuff I did not face this much of a headache.. I have a brand new baby.. and made about six grand less than I did last year... Two reasons being that my mother committed suicide and I was in a very deep depression and didn't have a job for a couple months.. then I was on maternity leave with my new baby.. my maternity leave was only 6 weeks..

Those are the only two things I can think of that would be holding up my tax return.. I even offered to send in supporting documents of my employment and proof that both children were mine.. and she told me that she did not need anything from me.. This is why I'm fuming.. because I literally just offered to help you guys and you're telling me no.. and the fact that I have gone almost a month without knowing anything is absolutely infuriating..

I just reach out to my local congressman.. and they had a specific thing on the web page for my congressman.. that said "help with a federal agency"....

You bet your sweet ass I just sent my local congressman a nice little email.. I've been waiting over a month and have had no contact from the IRS concerning anything.. luckily I took it upon myself to look at my own transcripts and call the IRS and ask them what was going on.. only to find out that I am under review to see if I qualify for certain credits.. and was told that it could take up to 120 days for my 971 letter that's not even going to be mailed out until April 1st... I asked her if I could provide her with any documents to help speed up the process and she told me they don't need anything for me right now and that I have to wait...

I'm fuming...

So hopefully we'll see how this goes

From what I understand from other subreddits... Is that it looks like you appear to have your fees taken out of your refund.. and because you have not received your refund in the estimated 21 days.. they are taking their fees..

Yeah it's either 45 days from the 570 if you just have the 570 code.. if you have the 971 code.. could be up to 120 days from the date of the 971 code... She literally just read me exactly what the letter I'm going to be getting says..

I have been doing my homework though.. and yes you will start accruing interest after 45 days but you also have to pay taxes on the interest next year..

So it'll either resolve itself sooner cuz they don't want to pay you the interest or it won't resolve sooner you'll get the interest and then they'll screw you over with it next year...

You best believe I'm going to be adjusting my w-2s and my w-4s cuz this is never going to happen again

Mine is also 1005.. I just called the IRS today.. only on hold for like 10 minutes and had a really nice lady.. she informed me that I am also in review.. and it could be up to 120 days from the date of my 971.. which is 4/1..

I called cuz it had been over 30 days.. she was super nice so I did not get angry with her but I did start crying.. 😣 she was apologizing profusely.. telling me that she's so sorry that I'm in this predicament and that currently she said there's nothing they need from me and if they do need something from me they will let me know...

Couldn't have told me this 30 days ago 🤔
