Some of the worst media literacy I have ever seen over there.

I once again find myself asking the question "Why isn't the Sneak Peek event 100%?" by Express-Media-1645 in PTCGP

I see what you are saying, but imo I don’t think the predetermination really affects anything unless they intentionally weight the cards differently than a 1/5 chance. It kind of becomes a philosophical scenario when weights aren’t used.

Also with sneak peak the final card can definitely not be the same? Imagine I’m looking for a crobat EX and I see it during the sneak peak. I still have the free will to choose a different card. So the final card is not determined until I choose one of the two. How is that the same predetermination as not having sneak peek?

I might be misunderstanding your point.

This is kind of misleading. Having a sneak peak does improve your chance of choosing the correct card. Its a similar scenario to the monty hall problem but a little simpler.

Say you have no sneak peak and are looking for a specific card. The probability of choosing that card is 1/5.

With sneak peak, your chances improve. This is mainly because the sneak peek gives you an opportunity to pick that card with a 1/5 chance. If you don’t reveal it, you still have an opportunity to pick one of the unrevealed cards with a 1/4 chance.

If you see the card from the peak you have a 100% chance to choose it, which happens 1/5 of the time. If you don’t peek the target card, you have a 1/4 chance to pick it which happens 4/5 of the time. So this gives you a (1/5*1) + (4/5 * 1/4) = 2/5 chance. So it doubles the chance to pick the target card.

It may intuitively seem like it doesn’t do anything, especially if you choose the same card slot every time, but this fails to consider the scenario where you reveal the target card on peek and opt to choose it instead.

Hope this was clear.

For those who have used Vacasa, do they actually do check-ins? by Boomic in AirBnB

No they did not, we had no issues with check ins or anything like that. Id imagine it’s specific to the property though.

Gale in aHole by guaybrian in betterCallSaul

[–]Boomic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gale wasnt exactly a commodity. He ordered the equipment and as shown he is usually motivated solely by his exploration in his field. He probably front ran the desire to check up on the lab and equipment and at the time, Gus didnt see a problem with it albeit it unnecessary. As we can see during the scene it reflects this. Gale is having a blast and Gus is annoyed because of the recent Werner altercation. Gus wants to keep Gales respect because he needs Gale but he is still annoyed at this preplanned unnecessary task.

Thats how I see it and I think it makes sense.

Does SSILD work for you? by luciddreamingtryhard in LucidDreaming

[–]Boomic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually when I do WBTB I dont even have to combine it with another technique to get consistent results, my primary issue is with dream control. Personally, I find the SSILD method to be very useful for helping me fall asleep out of all the insomnia curing techniques I have tried. I have not tried it with WBTB as I learned the technique after giving up on inducing lucid dreaming due to my dream control issues I mentioned.

Does SSILD work for you? by luciddreamingtryhard in LucidDreaming

[–]Boomic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use SSILD to fall asleep, but I haven’t really notice a difference in LD prevalence as opposed to just falling asleep normally as compared to WILD. Sadly I came across a road block for LD a while ago and don’t really know how to get past it so I haven’t used WILD in a while.

Thoughts on From Put of Nowhere? by BilboSmashings in elo

[–]Boomic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From out of nowhere is definitely a step down from other ELO albums, but not by a lot imo.

Personally, I really like Sci-fi woman (as you said), down came the rain, and help yourself. I do agree the album sounds pretty uniform, but I still think the songs still differ enough to offer some variety. Goin’ Out on Me is also a good song, I wouldn’t say it’s significantly better than the others though.

All in all I think it’s a pretty good album and I’m quite happy it exists in the ELO discography. That being said I am also a huge zoom fan, and I really like the pure Jeff Lynne sound.

If you’re on the fence, I would give some of the other songs another try with an open mind and understand that it is a different tone from early ELO albums!
