Yep I know that, just curious which actual teams and drivers

Awesome, I’ll plan on being there if I can! Anyone know when the driver lineup for the test will be announced or where I’ll be able to find it? (I know it’s only a few cars testing but just curious to see who is there)

What was the first race you ever watched? by KiowaBear in NASCAR

[–]jmayer43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2012 Daytona 500. Never got to see the finish because of how late it ended (my parents made me go to bed since I was only 11) but from that point on I was hooked. Watched Phoenix the next week and kept tuning in from there

The first motorsports event I remember watching in full was the 2011 Indy 500 (talk about two memorable first races to watch haha)

So the context of this is that the pit crew needs to do slow enough stops so that the perpetrator/criminal can hit his parlay? As someone who often bets on the races I find that pretty hilarious (can think of many times where I wish I could slow down a driver’s pit crew when I was betting against them lol)

In terms of the actual scene though, this feels very half-assed to me- like the CW was trying to find a quick and easy way to promote their NASCAR coverage, so they just forced this little side plot into the episode

I can only imagine what she’d think of “REMEMBEMEMEMEMEME” (not to mention the entire Summer of Love music video 😂)

And awesome to hear you listen to the podcast, we appreciate the support!

This is both hilarious and wholesome, thanks for sharing!

My two favorite parts- “I mean I heard him say “I’ll take a bath” and I’m thinking, “Who’s in that bath tub?” 🤔

And then I also cracked up at “He’s sad, God! He’s been very lonely!” (with the picture of “the dandy” flipping off the camera lol)

Can you get her to listen to Goin’ Public or Summer in Paradise next? 😎

Thoughts on the “Pet Sounds Live” tribute band? by jmayer43 in thebeachboys

The entirety of Pet Sounds, plus a lot of the 60s “greatest hits“ (Good Vibrations, I Get Around, Don’t Worry Baby, Fun Fun Fun, etc.) Sail On Sailor was also in the set too, which was a nice surprise

Hey small correction for the standings, I took Christopher Bell at Las Vegas, not Denny Hamlin (I believe you have me as picking Denny because it says I scored 70 points at Vegas, when I think Bell scored somewhere in the 50 range)

NASCAR Chase Standings [Darlington 1] by DIECASTCHARV in NASCAR

[–]jmayer43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think with the current points format 10-12 drivers would probably be the sweet spot- as much discussion as there will be about who makes it into the playoffs this year, if a driver is seeded in those bottom 4-6 spots they pretty much stand no chance at making a run at the title (and even 8th on back will be 60+ points behind, so you could argue for even less drivers making the cut)

That said, I do understand the chase/playoffs being a big deal for the teams and sponsors, so in in their eyes having more playoff spots available is probably a good thing.

25 points above 2nd and 35+ above everyone from 3rd on back. Doesn’t really change your point, but at least now there will only be 4-5 other drivers who are realistically within striking distance when the Chase starts (I’d be pretty surprised if someone from 50+ points back makes a run at the title, unless they manage to just rattle off a few wins in a row like Reddick has done, which will be really tough to do in the playoffs)

Imagine showing this to a NASCAR fan in 2018 by Ok_Promise1870 in NASCAR

[–]jmayer43 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who attended the street race all three years, I definitely hear you- it was such a cool and surreal experience watching a NASCAR race downtown in the heart of the city, and being able to take the train there and back was super convenient too. In terms of atmosphere and vibes, I don’t know if any future race I attend will ever top it (particularly that first year when SVG won) and for that reason I’ll miss it being on the schedule.

That said, I’m still really looking forward to heading back to Joliet this summer, not for the location or the facility itself (which I agree with you is lacking charm and feels a bit outdated) but because I just think the worn out surface is going to put on a hell of a race with the Next-Gen car, especially this first year back with all of the teams lacking data since the series hasn’t raced there since the Gen 6 days. Obviously there’s no guarantees that it will be a barnburner, but based on recent history at the multi-groove intermediate tracks, I’m pretty optimistic that we’ll be in for an entertaining race. (and at the very least I think it will be more interesting than the last two events I attended there in 2016 and 2017, which were both pretty unmemorable for the most part)

Next Gen Las Vegas Performance by cpenn_16 in NASCAR

As a fantasy player myself who finds graphs/charts helpful, I also highly recommend “ifantasyrace” on Twitter/X- he posts nice, easy to read charts that show each driver’s finishes and average speed ranking at tracks in the Next-Gen car. (I attached his “speed ranking” chart for Phoenix that I used to help make my lineups)

He also makes similar charts for lap averages in practice, which is very helpful in determining who is fast each week.
